USB C to Coax [edit HDMI]

I have since removed a few CD quality songs and one or two mediocre productions that ended up in these 24/48 playlists, and today's further listening is turning out to be very rewarding. What I like is the ability to play downloaded higher resolution tracks, iow without any streaming issues...

    High quality 80s disco/house tracks

A few of my favourites as in best sounding ones (some simply 80's pop). Pet Shop Boys - Smash (latest remasters) Michael Jackson - The Essential (Hi-res) Madonna - Vogue and Like A Prayer from Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones (Hi-res), the others from Celebration. Yazoo - Upstairs At Eric's...

USB C to Coax [edit HDMI]

Got it sorted with a USB C to HDMI adapter. It works. I compiled a few playlists on Apple Music containing 24 bit 48 kHz and higher, but I capped it to 24/48 just to listen. Sounds quite good. Is it as good as actual hi-res (e.g. Tidal via BubbleUPnP)? I am not convinced the wired-from-ipad...

USB C to Coax [edit HDMI]

These are available although a bit expensive. Do they work though? I am trying to connect an iPad to my CA 752BD (it does not accept DAP devices via USB, only storage).

A handful of good hi-res reasons to get Tidal..

    Best of Best Of albums

The most successful ones ito sales were The Very Best of Eagles (in the USA), Queen Greatest Hits 1 and Abba Gold (in the UK, and probably in SA). I have them as well as Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, The Beatles (1, Red & Blue), Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Dire Straits, Diana Krall and many...

    Wiim mini streamer question

Yes, Tidal and Apple Music have many 24/48 tracks. That's around 2,304 kbps compared to Spotify's 320 kbps at best. And yes, it matters.

New Tidal HiRes (Max tracks) vs Roon (@CD level)?

Sadly true, yes. Less so with their lossless resolution up to 24:48 (and I like the fact that they categorise this as lossless, not HiRes). But even their lossless is not as straight forward as other streaming services.

    Thank you☺️

New Tidal HiRes (Max tracks) vs Roon (@CD level)?

Two things I need to share. I find the idea of Tidal using "Max" to denote both Hi-res and MQA quite ridiculous. As a joined-again subscriber I like to put together playlists that contain actual hi-res, but it is impossible to do without first verifying the actual resolution. And this you can...

    Now Playing...

Taylor Swift released her latest, and it is a killer pop album. The above just 3 gems at the end. It is Lorde-like.. quite good! Notice the stream quality from Tidal; spot on Ms. Swift, spot on.

New Tidal HiRes (Max tracks) vs Roon (@CD level)?

Just for the record (now that I have subscribed to Tidal again), one can access your Tidal library directly via BubbleUPnP and cast Max files in hi-res (up to 24 bit 192 kHz). It also shows which songs are authentic hi-res ("H"), and which are not (the CD quality files that had the MQA "Master"...

    New Tidal Pricing 😍

I subscribed today to test their hires playback and ended up paying R85.. don't know why..? And it was not worth it, I am afraid. Still some dodgy quality issues. Let's just say my CD rips from an external HD and Apple Music downloads sound better than Tidal 24/96 via BubbleUPnP. That being...

    Spikes vs Cups vs Pucks

I nowadays have my floorstanders on my rug, without spikes. The rug is a firm, Persian-like one and extends all the way back to the wall behind the speakers. I think it works well, accoustically.

8 Ways to make your system sound better

Resurrecting this thread as it is a topic that has bearing on some other recent threads. It seems that with high-end equipment it is preferred to isolate the system from the room as best as one could.. kind of lay it all bare.. I am not in that league, which is why I opted to rather post in this...

Tidal tier restructure - happier wallets

This is good news. Apparently there are already a great many proper flac files (cd and 24 bit) available.

New Tidal HiRes (Max tracks) vs Roon (@CD level)?

I have not actually tried it using Tidal, which is why I have been asking those questions. But I am using it with Apple Music casting downloaded content, and used it with Deezer before (both CD quality). Same principle, you download it and play it back using the Apple M / Deezer app, but then...

New Tidal HiRes (Max tracks) vs Roon (@CD level)?

You don't use it to download. You still use the Tidal app. You just cast it using Bubble.

New Tidal HiRes (Max tracks) vs Roon (@CD level)?

Sorry my previous post must have read 24 bit / 48 khz, but you would have realised that.. Yes, BubbleUPnP audiocast is very Tidal (and Qobuz) friendly. It casts Tidal as per native resolution nowadays, so whatever you download can be cast to an enabled device, and fortunately my Cambridge...
