I sold my old 54cm tube to get something bigger. I watch little or no broadcast TV (SABC/eTV/DSTV). I mainly use it for DVD and PS2 gaming.

The above leads me to consider getting a wide (16:9) screen and possibly even a monitor, i.e. no builtin tuner or speakers. (I have a decent sub/sat speaker system)

Options are:
1) good 74cm tube
 - maybe a nice, quality brand, 100Hz flat screen
 - 8X cm tubes are just too bulky for me and my furniture
2) 30" or 32" wide screen CRT's
 - these are few and far between in dealers' show rooms
 - i've seen a phillips (+-6k) and a sony that just make the 10k cutoff
3) plasma is out of the question
 - 10k doesn't buy you any decent size in this price range
4) budget LCD
 - i like LCD technology (over plasma)
 - hifi c*rp*ration has a 32" widescreen sansui at the moment for just under 10k
 - above does not have component input though...
 - also don't know how good sansui LCD's are - i strongly suspect you get what you pay for...

What option would you recommend and why?
Any other good special offers on at the moment?
Does getting a monitor over a TV at the same price really get you a bigger or better screen?

thanks.

Chz,
kk
