... is Dire Straits a really great recording band..?
On the back of another thread (what's playing on the TT, @MMitch ~ John Illsley), I felt like listening some Dire Straits tonight; especially the early stuff (I'm a huge fan!)
The Dire Straits CD's in question were CNA bought stuff round about '91...
The recorded sound is simply exceptional, better than most. How so? What did they do differently from other bands of similar era?
