@Magellan 30 Years ago, we first heard and shared this, how time flies. Still beautiful music today, played by an A- team, and well recorded too. Still bops!
Here’s a fine example of a home recording, Pat Metheny single miked on an acoustic baritone guitar, no over processing or dubs. Sound is big, full and immediate. As per usual Ted Jensen’s mastering at Sterling Sounds is top class.

Even like the original, well played and recorded, Esperanza Spalding’s version still pops the goose flesh. That acoustic bass guitar followed by the other acoustic guitar player, is just gagical, even 12 years on. I have both recordings and they get equal air time.

I would love to listen this on a big rig! The last song ‘Mallay’ is special, intricately woven and played, a great track.
If you jazz rock, or Return To Forever, Tower Of Power, etc, give this a listen/view, even with headphones it sounds decent:
