Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

I don't think you're going to have much success with that sub. It was designed to compliment tiny satellite speakers, an external woofer rather than a true sub. The "sub" specs are basically in line with the low end performance of your Monitor Audios, but probably not nearly as linear. These...

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

That's not a great way to match sub and speakers, there can be massive differences between one frequency and the next. You need to see what the sub is doing across the range it covers in order to figure out where best to set the gain (and if you have the flexibility, where to place the sub)...

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

To level match properly you'd need to use a program like REW and a mic (though you'd still be unable to time align sub and speakers). Looking at the sub though, I'm not sure you won't be better off with your speakers as they are.

    Do you power condition?

ASR is just one of a handful of sites that are now making an effort to do proper analysis of audio gear. A large impetus behind joining this and other forums for me was to clear up misunderstandings around TVs and the images they produce - I don't think ASR was around in 2008. Thankfully in the...

    Do you power condition?

It is not mistaken. A watch doesn't keep time because you watch it, it was set in motion following principles that exist outside of you and I. Yes, but we are not electro-mechanical devices, their operation is not directed subjectively. You may feel certain your watch is running fast, but if...

    Do you power condition?

No debating that I do upset people - it happens more often than I'd like and I actually never know what is going to set people off. Sometimes I respond to something and I think "okay, here goes..." and nothing! Sometimes I say something I think is pretty innocuous and things kick off - I never...

    Do you power condition?

I don't know about the middle finger, but the review contains good evidence of the ineffectual nature of the device. It's not a cheap box, you would think one would want to know what it actually does. I'm sure it is a bitter pill to swallow, and maybe they're missing something, either way I...

Recommend me a pair of in ear headphones

Depending on how active you are in the gym, Apple Powerbeats Pros might be a better idea. Airpods wouldn't stay put in my ears for the sorts of activities I do, but the Powerbeats hook over the ear and stay nice and secure. I'm not a fan of the tips they come with however, I use Comply tips...

    Do you power condition?

That's an improvement to not overlook, anything to make the room quieter.

    Do you power condition?

How exactly? I try not to make personal comments, if people choose to take it that way rather than have the discussion, that in itself says something. Are you saying that unless I agree with popular opinion, I should shut up? Is the point of the forum just to slap each other on the back and...

I don’t understand the sensitivity - surely we can draw our own conclusions without making it about the person.

REW Measurements of AlleyCat's Room- Take 2

It's not one or the other, measurements are just an extension of what you hear, like a telescope augments what you see when you look up at the night sky. If what you see through the scope doesn't gel with what your saw, you're probably either looking in the wrong place or don't understand the...

REW Measurements of AlleyCat's Room- Take 2

No, like testing windspeed from behind a tree, you wouldn't get a good measurement. The mic in a measurement scenario is the head. It has, and it's great at parsing sound even when it's horribly distorted. Doesn't mean horribly distorted sound is good. There's no logical argument that I...
