    Problem cable for data transfer

just make sure the packaging says data / power cable. or power / data i guess.. best to spend a little extra & get a decent cable - better data transfer & charging rates, & will last a little longer.

    Trusted Repairer/Tweaker database

i'm looking for someone to take a look at my triode 25 amp, based in kzn south coast / durban area. the biasing is not working properly & last night i noticed that one channel is running hot & causing valves to start to redplate. swapping the valves over shows that the problem remains on the...

thanks. i thought that would be the case. i was a bit concerned when it was packed on collection, but it did work on installation, so not sure if it was damaged or not.

    i guess it is fubar??

i recently passed on an old tv to a friend. this is what it looks like now.. i'm guessing there is no point in taking it for repair? if i am wrong, could anyone recommend a repairer in the centurion area perhaps.

    Nearfield/Desktop Audio

after trying a number of options, mainly the active nearfield type speakers, (logitech/ edifier / audioengine exactly as per above:ROFLMAO:, plus a good sprinkling of altec lansing, roland & jbl) i am now using a nuprime udsd, an old linn kann stereo amp, and a pair of tannoy nfm8 monitors on...

Volume Control: Best in Digital or Anologue Domain?

one of the technically minded guys once told me that reducing volume in the digital domain leads to loss of bits. google link for myself i find that dropping the volume to around 70 / 80% on the streamer & then using analog on the amp for the rest seems to sound better to my ears.

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

i still find it quite amazing that the bullfrogs were designed for use in techno clubs, yet are so good with pretty much every type of music - particularly acoustic.

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

there was actually quite a long period between the power filter (shunyata hydra) and the change in valves, so i am quite clear on the origin of the improvement. in fact, the change in valves only came about as a result of a cleaning incident which resulted in one of the oem valves being broken.

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

i am sure it would be. but budget is a bit tight for the forseeable future, so making do with what i have for now - which i am actually really very happy with. (didn't really think that i would be able to assemble a system of this standard. a big thank you for getting me here.(y)) if the...

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

i haven't yet seen anyone mention power i think? i tried all sorts of tweaks to get the bullfrogs sounding right - streamer, software, dac, cables, & valves. pretty much all of these were an improvement, but still not there. 2nd to last tweak was power & that is when it all came together & the...

    Movers: Inter-provincial

i recently moved from centurion to kzn. i made use of vt transport - they did a great job & the cost was, i think, really reasonable. (r24k) they didn't do the packing though - just wrapped a couple of the items.
