So what does the new planned NHS hold in for us?

The ‘new’ NHS is not so new. It was new when the Tories took control in 2010 and decided to systematically underfund the programme - just one more strange ‘self own’ in a country that seems to be on a mission to self-implode in slow motion. As for what it means for folks here in SA? Well, for...

So, there’s nothing new under the sun, eh. Maybe. Still, I’m glad this exists rather than not. Start at Stratopaus and wend your way through the rest.

    Now Playing...Jazz

Hahah. Before clicking I was preparing to reply with “well, if Wes isn’t no. 1, this list can’t be taken seriously”. I probably would’ve have McLaughlin higher up and Benson lower down (though not off), but not too much to quibble with for me.

12 Predictions for the future of music

Some interesting remarks here. I’ll just riff off a few of them. Yep. Then again, nothing arises ex nihilo. All innovation is iteration (Dada, itself ‘spawned’ from futurism/expressionism, precipitates surrealism). I suppose by ‘templatised’ you mean following a formula? The boy band...

12 Predictions for the future of music

The fall of rights values is impacting on holders' share values. Translation: music is cheaper than it's ever been. It is cheaper to make, to produce, and to distribute. The value drop of 'legacy property' means the second paragraph above holds for now. Needless to say, there's always a total...

12 Predictions for the future of music

Interesting response by Universal to the above. https://www.wsj.com/business/media/universal-tiktok-music-dispute-62de2dda?mod=mhp “Nasseri, formerly part of a team at Universal that ran viral TikTok campaigns, had eagerly watched the song’s rise as dance videos featuring the tune mushroomed...

    Grimes on Gemini

…and Banksy is a friggin street tagger… Art is something that is produced by artists and is appreciated as such by those who appreciate art. Hyperbolic claims of revolution likely accompany any significant development in art (contra to this, some are claiming the third AI winter is already...

    Grimes on Gemini

I agree that life would be simpler if, in general, all written content followed the dictum to “write like Hemingway”. I also think it would be more boring. I like diversity in my experiences ;) and it suggests I should appreciate that not everyone does.
