I’ve always hated electronic music. It wasn’t cool in my crowd when I was growing up. We were the rebels. We liked old school. Real musicians.

I got some nice speakers years ago. They do things I’ve tried to explain here, but you cannot get it. I was transfixed for awhile with the usual audiophile stuff. Loved it, still do, but I’ve started exploring other things. Oddly, I don’t enjoy the old stuff, metal, hard rock etc I used to so much anymore. Not from an audiophile perspective. It’s just not mastered for audiophile equipment. There is an implication to the musicality argument here but I’m not talking about that right now.

Modern edm. Trance etc. Damn. These kids can project a stereo soundstage that keeps you entertained. A wall of sound that plays like a movie. Things pan left and right forward and backwards and figure of eights in front of you.

Computer phase manipulation today is astoundingly good. An example would be:

Deadmau5
Quezacotl

It feels like I’m being rolled by waves in the ocean. Absolutely immersive.
