Imagine if you wish the takeup and supply reel mechanism on your machine. The likelihood of those spools being driven by a direct drive motor is very very small, so as a rule the drive to those spools is created by interconnecting idler wheels between a shared motor and then the takeup/supply...

If the unit is belt drive (I think it is) then I doubt that the belts would have survived around 25 years without stretching, going out of shape or turning to glue. Confirming this is not complex, open the cover and take a look inside for telltale signs of broken belts. If this is not visible...

Agreed.. A question was raised by an equal RTR enthusiast from the States on facebook asking what will happen to RTR when 'we' nutters pass away, will it continue on... The replies were varied, but mostly agree that it pretty much ends with us, its a nostalgia thing it seems, to which I cannot...

And then of course just to annoy the purists this is one of two B77’s with flatface conversion and PR99 digital count with locator modification, they were fun to build….

She looks like this now, you might have seen her on other threads, I tend to lose place, Flatface conversion, NAD VU’s, and recently changed to high speed 1/2 track, even though the faceplate still indicates the lower speed..
