    My lovelies…

These are my other ladies that have recently been shipped off to storage for a few weeks, there are what started off as 3 completely identical Revox B77’s of which only the one on the left has remained reasonably original, with the one second from the left having been modified for flat face...

    My lovelies…

On the left is a 1982-ish OTARI MX5050-BII 1/2 track machine, on the right a 1976 Technics RS-1500 1/2 track machine, beautiful units with the Technics being decades ahead of its time in many ways.. Interestingly they both share the same heads, obviously not the head block assembly but the...

    My lovelies…

Yep, here it is, I'm assuming this is what you mean.. My other machines are in storage until the end of my sisters stay after which I might then re-inherit my office space at the discretion of my boss.. If I do then I will dress the other ladies appropriately, if not, then I see marital...

    100Hz HUM from speakers 😫

Despite my post, given the age of the machines I have to agree with fdlsys, almost too young to have cap issues.. Might be a little tricky to find that fault.. best of luck..

    Technics RS-1520

@El Sid - Thank you, yes I have seen that on a few of the RTR facebook groups, that is a remarkable transformation on an already magnificent machine, took the owner an absurd amount of hours to recreate, admittedly he did say he will never do it again (or along those lines).. But then, if the...

    100Hz HUM from speakers 😫

Agree fully with gapco. 100hz hum is almost guaranteed power supply main filtering caps needing replacement, 50hz full wave rectification effectively creates a 100hz waveform, if your dc filtering caps are dry or just not working, you get hum.. Normally pretty straightforward to see with a scope...

    What's on the Tape...

Wow, my father bought me one of those on a return flight from Italy back in early 80. It was a true ‘revelation’, actually made me quite popular at school given it was one of one at the school back then, literally everyone wanted to listen to the device.. Landed up being confiscated by a...

    Flat faced Revox B77 conversion

@River that's great, good call to keep the original. If you have not yet replaced all the caps in your B77 yet then I strongly suggest you do, especially read up on Rifa caps used on Revox units and you will soon realise they are all a ticking timebomb, and its no difference whether your...

    Flat faced Revox B77 conversion

Thank you Sir, I need a new project.. I now want to see how (electronically) the PR99 locator board induces dynamic braking, and then once that lot is figured out see if I can make it myself and have it operational on my other B77's.. I know it's been done as new tape transport boards are...

    Flat faced Revox B77 conversion

Wow, hard to believe it’s been almost 3 years that the conversion happened.. My last ‘formal’ post ended “what do I do next..?? Well next did happen, some time back by pure chance a Revox C270 came my way with another B77 as part of the deal.. The C270 needed some machine work and now as of...
