    DSTV Explora

It seems to affect just channel 101 as the other HD channels coming through as dolby digital sound fine. I watched F&F6 on Sunday night and the sound was so soft and dull I had to turn my AV sound up quite a bit to get any affect. It seems to be just Dolby Digital signals though but funnily...

    DSTV Explora

Hi all, I have my DTSV explora running through my HT setup (Onkyo 609) via HDMI and have recently noticed dolby digital movies and series broadcast on channel 101 very soft compared to the other HD channels (the Ad breaks are loud) I can see the AV also sets the Dolby Digital dialog...

    digital or hdmi for sound

The 1069 might not be able to decode HD formats but the PS3 can, and then will send this uncompressed via HDMI to the receiver (hence the receiver showing multi channel). The older "FAT" PS3's could not bit stream HD audio data and all the decoding was done in the PS3 and then sent to the AV...

    Subwoofer Question...

Thanks guys, quick question. The Sub is located at the back of the room in a corner next to my couch. Should I perhaps move it to the front to where the main floor standers are located? Originally when I ran the Audyssey setup on my AV receiver (onkyo 609) it set the subwoofer level at -15...

    Subwoofer Question...

Hi, I am currently running a Jamo sub300 in my HT but have been thinking of getting the B & W ASW610 due to the extra power, price point and good reviews it has gotten. would it be a worthwhile update or should I just stay with my Sub300? Due to space limitations I also don't want 2 sub...

    Logitech hamony remotes

Correct, the only difference appears to be the colour screen which just seems like overkill anyway as you still use buttons. The remote is also back lit which was a selling point as none of my other ones are :) No I just hope that my DSTV HD-PVR 2P works correctly with it.

    Logitech hamony remotes

Opted for the 600 on http://onedayonly.co.za/index.html#. For R199 it is a no brainer  8) I only have 4 devices I need to control.

    Logitech hamony remotes

Thanks for the replies. So how do these remotes work when you have control for HDMI enabled for your devices? Must you disable conrtol for HDMI on your components or just leave it? Currently I have a Onyko 609, Sony Bravia 46HX800 and sony BD all configured to use control for HDMI.

also if you don't get an option on the BD menu try and switch via your language button on your BD remote :) I had this on one of my BD's.

DTS-HD & Dolby True HD on older AV receivers

Some BD's sometimes dont come with a lossless audio option so you just need to be wary of this. I think Swordfish is one of them  >:(

DTS-HD & Dolby True HD on older AV receivers

Some Blu-ray's default to dolby digital and you need to manually select the Dolby trueHD soundtrack. I know the Dark Knight BD does this.

Star Wars Blu Ray box set- which one?

Hi, Just be warned that the local copies state on the box that there is a DTS-HD 6.1 english audio track and no German but when you actually start to play the disks you only get a DTS lossy english 6.1 track and the HD German option. Cheers -A-

    Star Wars blu-ray

So I ordered my Star Wars blu-ray set from amazon.co.uk and got it the other day (free shipping). Cost me less in the end as well :) I can confirm that I am getting DTS-HD MA 6.1 in English now and sounds awesome!!!! Looks SA's getting their disks from a German supplier!! Cheers

    Star Wars blu-ray

Why? because it looks like we are getting the German edition of the blu-ray which only has a German lossless 5.1 DTS-HD track. The English track is standard lossy DTS. Very daft even though it states on the back of the box it has a english DTS-HD 6.1 track I have confirmed this by various...
