I found a rusty bolt that fits. Will take it to the hardware shop as a sample. By the way Chrisc, a 5 mm nut cost me R1.00 so I very much doubt 4 bolts will cost that.

I have tried a few old bolts from my garage. They screw in only a few mm then stick, so it's a matter of getting the correct thread type. Metric thread vs imperial thread???  I can always cut the bolt shorter to fit so length is not a concern.

I  bought an Epson projector and need to mount it upside down. There are four threaded holes for mounting. The manual shows them as M4 x 9. Presumably the 4 is the bolt diameter, 4mm, but I don't know what the 9 stands for. I need to buy the correct bolts so any assistance would be appreciated.

I have to position a projector according to the position of my 16:9 screen but am confused about the 220 mm black section above the white viewing area. Does this ever serve a purpose or can it be kept rolled up within the casing?

Not cat's pee or dog crap. It's DUST. Dust gets in thru the air vents and this increases the speed of the corrosion. I have a Rotel CD player, about 15 years old, placed beside the Marantz, and inside still looks new, but there are no vents for the dust to penetrate. 

So, larger the better. I read that passive TV's produce "interlace" lines /jagged edges which are less noticeable on small TV's.

Thanks for all the interesting, and some conflicting, opinions. I guess one should go to a specialized TV shop and view 3D videos. Presumably a TV's specs will state whether it is passive or active, convertible between 2D and 3D etc.

3D TV's are now being sold from about R6000 with glasses. I'd like to know what type of viewing they provide. Can they be compared to the 3D experience at IMAX theatres? And are there many 3D movies being broadcast via DSTV? There queries come from a qualified novice.
