    Regular loss of TV picture.

Thanks Naughty. Analyzing what you said: TV HDMI In has always been connected to AVR HDMI OUT. What I then need to change is to bypass the AVR and rather connect the decoder HDMI OUT to TV HDMI 2 IN instead of to  the AVR HDMI IN.  Hopefully this will stop the picture loss which seems to be more...

    Regular loss of TV picture.

Today, watching cricket on channel 202, the sound keeps on going off. Changing channels then returning to 202 brings the sound back. Most frustrating.

    Regular loss of TV picture.

NAUGHTY, if you are still around, the remedy I discussed in my last post lasted for a week then the problem returned.  Your suggestion above calling for an HDMI connection between DSTV and TV I understand. You then say I can use the second HDMI IN jack on the TV to connect it to the AVR. Bearing...

Correct jvr, it is called "control for HDMI function"

    Regular loss of TV picture.

I hopefully have sorted out the problem. The Sony AVR has a setting for "Bravia Sync". My TV is a Sony Bravia so I switched this feature to "ON" and now after a few days there has been no loss of picture. Off course, buying another TV could re-introduce this problem.

    Regular loss of TV picture.

I watch 3D blu-ray movies through the projector but as my TV is not 3D I have to switch it off prior to using the projector.

    Regular loss of TV picture.

Thanks for your input jvr. I have a blu-ray and projector connected to the AVR via HDMI.

    Regular loss of TV picture.

The more posts I read, the more questions I have. NAUGHTY suggests I connect the TV's HDMI IN to the AVR. This would be to the AVR's HDMI output jack. The problem I see with this is that the HDMI inputs on the AVR will not be used. The remote's buttons are used to select a device connected to...

    Regular loss of TV picture.

Will a standard RCA cable plugged into the coaxial jacks work?

    Regular loss of TV picture.

Forgive my ignorance, but my TV user manual identifies the various jacks, namely, HDMI, S Video, RGB and component jacks but no coaxial jack.

    Regular loss of TV picture.

If I connect the PVR directly to the TV then do I not need a HDMI out jack on the TV to connect it to the amp? My TV only has two HDMI IN jacks.

    Regular loss of TV picture.

I have my PVR decoder, Sony TV and Sony DN 1050 receiver all inter-connected via HDMI cables. On a regular basis the TV picture disappears leaving a black screen. It usually takes a few minutes for it to return. However, if I switch the receiver off then on, then the picture immediately returns...

I want to be able to split 2 hour movies.

Thank for all the suggestions. I only download 1080p 3D movies and need a splitting program that will not affect the quality in any way. Crafty, I do not use my PC for viewing movies. I have a projector, blu-ray and receiver all inter-connected via HDMI.

I want to be able to split 2 hour movies.

Recording a DSTV movie on a PVR means you can watch a movie, stop, then continue watching another day. I have downloaded movies on a portable hard drive connected to a blu-ray player but have to watch an entire movie as a re-start begins at the beginning. Can anyone suggest a program that will...

    Marantz sr5006

My Marantz SR 5003 had to be thrown out after four years due to corrosion on all boards. I would not touch a Marantz if you live near the coast.

Sony STR 1050 receiver packed up after two months.

Has anyone else had problems with this receiver? Sony are replacing my faulty unit. I just hope mine alone was a dud and it's not a problem with an entire batch.

Sony STR 1050 receiver packed up after two months.

It's connected to a surge protector.

Sony STR 1050 receiver packed up after two months.

The store, after a week, simply replied that they were still waiting for feedback from Sony. It's a no win situation.

Sony STR 1050 receiver packed up after two months.

I have been informed that Sony do not deal with the public. All complaints have to go to Rectron who then wait for feedback.- I strange business practice in my opinion. As I stated at the start of this string, my DN 1050 packed up after two months. I took it to Rectron who are waiting for Sony's...

Sony STR 1050 receiver packed up after two months.

The online shop is contacting Sony. They (Firstshop) agree that it should be replaced and not repaired. Why online? A long story. I paid R6300 in January for the STR 1040 which was no longer available at the Sony agents. (discontinued soon after) Eventually they sent me the new STR 1050 when it...
