I hopefully have sorted out the problem. The Sony AVR has a setting for "Bravia Sync". My TV is a Sony Bravia so I switched this feature to "ON" and now after a few days there has been no loss of picture. Off course, buying another TV could re-introduce this problem.

I watch 3D blu-ray movies through the projector but as my TV is not 3D I have to switch it off prior to using the projector.

Will a standard RCA cable plugged into the coaxial jacks work?

Forgive my ignorance, but my TV user manual identifies the various jacks, namely, HDMI, S Video, RGB and component jacks but no coaxial jack.
