I'd say here is where you really want to be careful with what touches the chassis.  I've found that taking the AC socket ground to the 0V common on the amp creates really bad stuff.  I don't know how to describe it, it's like it suddenly starts amplifying any noise on ground with much higher...

Your configuration and mine are quite similar - regarding relative position and orientation of the two boards and torroids! Mine laid down on its side is kinda the same as yours.  OK, we have to look past the mono block think I'm doing... Your heatsinks are capable of very much more though.
