Thanks for the replies, guys. The dilemma: R450.00 for repair/speaker, R495.00 for replacement speakers (according to Wharfedale agent). Should I spend R2000 on these or just call  it a day? Could I build a pair with the same budget, that will sound better?

I have a set of Wharfedale 9.5 floorstanders where the speaker rubber surrounds have partially torn loose to various degrees (looks almost surgically cut where it connects the speaker frame). Although I see lots of replacement kits etc. it seems there is no local repair shop or kits available...
