Thank you all for the advise. I have cracked the mystrey. The RCA cables were faulty after all. Not 100% sure where or how.  I replaced the RCA's (once again) with a second spare i had laying around, sweet SUCCESS  :clap: . This I only discovered after I spent a good two or so hours replacing...

Thanks everyone for all your assistance. I have tested all the leads and only get continuity on the ones I should. After replacing the cartridge with a know working one and with that re-seating the cables the hum has minimized. It might be best to send it in to the Pros for a good service. Are...

I noticed a wire mesh around the tonearm leads that run into the plinth, it seems to be connected to the board where the leads are soldered but does not make contact with the tonearm. The part of the tonearm I tested seems to be chrome plated. I will try find a screw to test against and also...

To Hi-Phibian, I have tested the RCA inner pin to ring and get 452 and 459. Unfortunately my cheapie multimeter does not have a continuity test but when testing the resistance it fluctuates heavily between 0 and 1500 ohms. Regards Quentin
