    Remote batteries that do not leak!

    All alkaline batteries will leak if they are discharged too far. Even if you don't use them, they eventually self discharge. The chemistry changes, causing a gas build up, and eventually the pressure causes the seals fail and so they start leaking. AFAIK, this doesn't happen with rechargeable...

    Outdoor Speakers

    Thanks for the link. I got really excited for a moment by the Extreme 8... but price on the website is per speaker (not per pair)  :'( Might consider the Extreme 5, but they only have a 4" driver, so I'd definitely need a sub too. So far, the Yamaha AW-592 (with 6" driver) seem to be the best...

    Outdoor Speakers

    I plan to mount them permanently, so they will be exposed to some of the elements (but no direct rain) :) It is in the back garden, and they won't be visible from the street. Not worried about theft :???: There is an alarm in that area too.

    Thanks - I'll check out the AW-294 as well. Seem similarly priced. Yep, I think any of these smallish speakers will have limited bass extension... I'm going to experiment with placement, and see what works best.
