Hmmm... could I switch the left and right channel on the cartridge to eliminate the cartridge or connector block on the VPI? Which points would I need to test with a multi-meter?

Yeah tried that too, hum stays on the same channel.

If I only switch the interconnects on the VPI then yes the hum moves channels, the hum is only coming from the white connection on the connector box. This particular Grado is MI Low Output - if I switch to MM the volume is halved, and the hum is still audible if I turn it up.

They look good to me, I even reset them and I'm still getting the hum. After more testing, I have found that it is only coming out of the white connection from the connector block (on the VPI) regardless of which interconnect cable and channel I plug it into on the amp... so it can't be an amp...

You should try www.banquetrecords.com - they are a UK based webstore and I find their shipping to be quite reasonable. Although sometimes the price of the actual record can be a bit higher than other places.
