Expensive HDMI Cable worth its money

Have tried different cable, gives me other problems. Did order myself a better 5m long cable - awaiting delivery. The point I tried to figure out is that according to theory I should not experience these symptoms as HDMI is digital. Error correction should fix it?

    Subwoofer Feet

What would you put under the feet of a subwoofer when you have a wooden floor. I got some spikes but they would make bad holes into my floor.

    Earthing of Receiver

I wished my receiver power plug (male part at receiver) would have an earth pin but it only has life and neutral.

Expensive HDMI Cable worth its money

Perhaps you have some advise for my scenario: I have a cheaper HDMI cable between my receiver and display. When I set the receiver output to 1080p the screen is blank. When I set it to 720p the bottom half of the screen flickers with white lines in it. When I set it to 576p the picture is fine...

    Onkyo 705 avr running hot

Did you fix your problem? If it did not get hot in the past but now - what changed? Onkyo in general get more hot than others. I once changed the speaker cable and it got less hot but still more hot than other makes.

    Earthing of Receiver

My receivers power plug does not have an earth pin. The chassis has an earth connection. Does anyone have a similar config? Did you connect the chassis' earth connection to some earth?

Toslink Cable for Audio or is HDMI fine

Aren't people preferring fibre optical because there is no interference and it has higher bandwith capabilities than copper?

Expensive HDMI Cable worth its money

My point is that some people seem to hear a difference with "better" HDMI cable. Some say it's all digital. Yes, it's all digital 0 and 1. But the question is whether all 0 and 1 are transmitted in cheaper cable, i.e. the cheaper cable has a bandwidth contraint. "Better" HDMI cable has higher...

    Ethernet over HDMI

Thanks a lot. That's what I thought. Very little acceptance from manufacturers of Ethernet over HDMI. Hence better to stick with normal Ethernet or wireless.

Toslink Cable for Audio or is HDMI fine

Yes, differences are inaudible if all the 0 and 1 are transmitted. I guess the assumption is that the fibre optic supports higher bandwidth (higher data throughput) and less loss than copper. So if there is higher loss in copper and some bandwidth is dropped you might hear a difference?

    Ethernet over HDMI

That's exactly what I mean. HDMI cables are advertised with Ethernet over HDMI, however devices are not supporting it. And it currently does not seem to make much sense. Correct?

Expensive HDMI Cable worth its money

In real Ethernet the difference between CAT5, 5e and 6 is the bandwidth they can handle, hence different speeds of data. So there is a difference in copper and shielding, which makes that possible. Let's say in HDMI it's the same. Different copper, shielding makes higher data transfer speeds...

    Ethernet over HDMI

That's exactly what I am looking for. Has anybody got devices, which use Ethernet over HDMI? All my devices have a dedicated Ethernet connection. Ethernet over HDMI is out for some time already but manufacturer don't seem to implement it in their devices. If you link up 5 devices like this, how...

Expensive HDMI Cable worth its money

Some say - no difference, some say they seem to hear a difference, e.g more bass. Everything is digital 0 and 1. Let's say there are thousands of 0 and 1 going over the cable. What if in a cheaper cable some 0 and 1 are not transmitted, perhaps 0.1% loss. In a more expensive and better quality...

Toslink Cable for Audio or is HDMI fine

That's very interesting. I have read some audiophile feedback and they are convinced that TOSLINK gives them better audio quality. Perhaps they say due to no interference, faster transmission, dedicated link .... I also read about a guy reporting sound problems with his Playstation until he used...

    Ethernet over HDMI

Has anybody used Ethernet over HDMI yet? Any use? What's the speed?

Toslink Cable for Audio or is HDMI fine

Do you think Toslink cable makes a different in audio quality or would HDMI be same quality?
