LOL yeah i think the HDMI cable depate has been discussed here a number of times. I have a splitter at home with R80 hdmi cables (from www.hdcabling.co.za) all working fine and havent seem any change with or without the splitter.  

Ok as a i thouhgt, i assume the projector and the plasma are in the same room, then i maintain what you are looking for is a splitter as you want to take the same signal from the yamaha reciever to both the TV and the projector. See diagram in the link below...

Sounds like what you looking for is a HDMI splitter not a switch,as you want to split the signal between you plasma and projector.

I had a similar problem streaming HD vidoes to my mede8er the problem seems to be that the mede8er is 100mb/sec and the file server (pc running win 7 in my case) is 1gb/sec. When i enabled flow control on the network card of my file server the problem went away im not sure if the drobo has this...

i have the same issue with the decoder and have looks on the dstv forum there doesnt seem to be any solution. I have since installed a second SD DSTV decoder for xtra view and the volume on that one is fine. If you find a solution let me know.
