    uDSD DAC-Off: Group Review

Had playback issues with foobar on some of the flacs so we went with something we could get working quickly. Thanks for the feedback on VLC. I do however see the uDSD as something being used on whatever computer you are currently working on (with whatever software happens to be on there at...

    uDSD DAC-Off: Group Review

Just want to thank Qwerty for an interesting Saturday. I think the main salient points have been addressed already. Things from my perspective: It was apparent from the outset that the uDSD and the Odac was outclassed by the bigger DACs. This was to be expected so I won't elaborate on that...

    Who sells Roksan tonearms locally

Saw that yes. But the last activity on that Facebook page was 19 November 2014. Also the site listed on the page does not exist anymore. In fact the domain is available for registration so you cannot mail them.

What is more IMPORTANT to you, looks or sound?

I agree totally. The way something looks can add a level of enjoyment. Just like presentation can influence your enjoyment of good food. But you have to start with good food, just like you have to start with something that sounds good.

What is more IMPORTANT to you, looks or sound?

I don't believe you can be on this forum and have sound quality as 'n secondary consideration. I do believe that looks can influence your buying decisions heavily though. Blind listening before you buy would probably be the only way to totally eliminate that bias and I don't know of anyone who...

    Who sells Roksan tonearms locally

I cannot seem to find a lot of information on Roksan TT products locally. The distributor website is MIA and I don't know who sells Roksan equipment here.

What is more IMPORTANT to you, looks or sound?

I'd like to see some pictures of ugly equipment that forum members own. Then we can get a benchmark of what we are talking about.

    Rotten Johnny's Lamb Rogan Josh

So I made this over the weekend. Used lamsboud cut into cubes. Absolutely fantastic. My wife who does not like Indian food had more than one helping. Thanks for sharing, will definitely make it again.

Be careful what you wish for..... Part II

Ouch, all worth it at the end if things turn out well. Hope these are back to working order soon so that they can be properly enjoyed!

Thirteens "Early Bird"... but there is more behind...

I think early bird specials are a great idea to create brand awareness, especially with brands where information are limited. The trick would be to expand this beyond the forum. There are plenty of people here who would buy into this but there needs to be a push towards the general public to...

Be careful what you wish for..... Part II

Wow, big improvement. Looks like a lot of elbow grease. What did you use in the end to remove the gunk?

    24uf Bipole capacitors

Thanks, @pwatts - Tried all those with no luck. Pretty much resigned myself to importing them @Steerpike - Thought something like that should work. Just didn't know if it would be equivalent enough. Will have to try that if nothing else comes up.

    Dolby Atmos system .... impressions

Hehe, would like to be a fanboy as well, which is why I was a bit sad about the capital outlay. I will not reveal my sources  :) Few months ago I read a primer on Dolby Atmos from Dolby that pretty said it in so many words that Atmos was designed with direct radiating speakers in mind. However...

    Dolby Atmos system .... impressions

One of the things that stops me from going to atmos is the fact that most online sources including dolby themselves recommend against dipoles or bipoles. Direct radiating speakers are apparently what is was designed for. This means that in addition to my av processor and height speakers I will...

    Taking audiophilia mainstream

Read an article written by Jason Stoddard from Schiit last night which had me thinking about the post Francois did a while ago about the state of South African audio products / market. The article deals mainly with the problems Pono are facing but it ends of with a discussion around necessary...
