    What MP3 player

I own a shuffle as pictured above as well as a 4g and 5g 20gb and 80gb respectively. What i've found is that the shuffle is really good for getting to know your music, you can't search for a particular song so you just listen. With the other 2 i tend to go looking for my favourite songs instead...

    Sony or Philips

The one thing I have noticed (this counts for all tv's) is that a darkened room gets rid of a lot of the contrast type issues. I have noticed that grays are dark, but in a darkened room the picture is perfect for me.

    Sony or Philips

I own the Sony, and I'm really happy with it. The picture quality is gorgeous and I've had no issues. I cannot speak for the Philips, so if I was you I would try to demo them side by side to see the differences. If that is not possible then I would go for the Sony based on my own experience...

    Cleansound???

Thanks for the welcome guys, I'm loving it here. Hopefully Cleansound comes back. ;) I really hate it when people leave. It destroys my sense of community.

    Cleansound???

Obviously I'm a new member, so feel free to take this from whence it comes. I grew up on the internet thanks to friends of the family who used to own the internet cafe in Eastgate. Over the years since 94 I've noted how people tend to be more brash and argumentative on the internet than in real...

    Fantastic Live Concert DVD

I just thought I'd let anyone who is interested know that I found an absolutely great live concert DVD from Incubus called Alive At Redrock. I own a fair number of music DVD's and this rates as one of, if not the, best. Those of you who know Incubus will understand when I say that you can hear...

    B&W Speaker Repairs

Fortunately the HT system is taken care of already. I have a bravia 40" LCD, yamaha rx-v463 amp and nsp110 speaker set. The speakers aren't brilliant, but they do the job for home theatre. For stereo I would really like a VA exclame 100 amp with a rotel 1072 cd player. I think that combo would...

    B&W Speaker Repairs

No Mervin, Italian. convenient that you're here though. I want to start building a low end separates stereo system around the two B&W speakers. Do you have any recommendations for me as to where and what to look for? I see that both you and Jamster move a lot of equipment around and I'm not...

    B&W Speaker Repairs

Does anyone know where I can get my B&W speakers repaired? The tweeter is dead on the one speaker. It's a set of 602 S3's.

    Headphones

I have a pair of HD465's that I got for a little over R500 in Cresta. The sq is way better than the 202's and they're open backed and foam, so you can wear them for a lot longer. We buy a pair of 202's as a starting gift for every new developer we hire and they are pretty good as well though.

    B & W

I own a pair of B&W 602 S3's and i think they're beautiful speakers. A guy called Francois is advertising a pair on avsa classifieds for R2000. I've heard the speakers on my Dads Harman Kardon stereo amp and they really sing, however they sound almost as good when running my Yamaha amp in...

Yamaha AV Receiver driving B&W's in straight or direct mode.

Strangely enough that was exactly what I was looking at. http://avshop.co.za/catalog/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/17/products_id/575?osCsid=f67ca3af1dc968c118047e66f62d4095 Do you think this is a decent price?

Yamaha AV Receiver driving B&W's in straight or direct mode.

Thanks Croak, that would explain it. I had a samsung all in one system but when I upgraded I borrowed my father in laws Logik dvd player for the month (getting a new player when I get paid). This player will only output dolby digital in raw format. I really prefer the dts soundtrack on The 5th...

Sounds nice, can you give me any ideas on price for the DAC? Another quick question if you don't mind. Can you explain to me why a DVD player would need to be able to decode DTS even to output it as SPDIF/RAW?

Yamaha AV Receiver driving B&W's in straight or direct mode.

That is kind of along the lines that I was thinking of. Just a quick question though, why the separate GerDAC? And does the CDP need to have any specific outputs to use it?

Great, that's what I was hoping to hear. I really like the aesthetics of the NAD systems as well. Now, what was that pudding you mentioned?

Well I bought the NSP set knowing full well it would be terrible for music. It's always a case of doing what you can with the money you have. And unfortunately for the money there is a baby on the way. Like I said though, I will be looking for a decent stereo setup as soon as I can. Speaking...

Hi Everyone, My real name is Paolo and I'm 27 and live in Pretoria. I haven't had a really good system since my parents left for Italy taking along with them an HK separates system with B&W speakers. (I still miss it.) I have just bought myself a Yamaha RX-V463 Receiver and NSP-110 speakers...
