I don't think bluetooth is fast enough? Going to try move the subs next to the speakers  - see what it does to the sound... although I'd like the one sub at the back, its not the end of the world if I can get decent sound by just moving them.

Any tips on how best to use the app would be great, e.g. what mode the amp should be in, should it only be using the front channels, should the subs be on, etc.

There seem to be quite a few. Including one listed on the svs site. I do not think I'm doing my room justice with my subs where they are. Going to try move them next to the mains and see if the sound improves.

Be careful with the firmware upgrades... breaks things from what I've read.

Maybe try on mybb - see if you can get interest over there.
