Members who have had the jab.

Had my second shot this morning. VA Broadacres. I queued for 2.5 hours for the first shot a few weeks ago, and today I was in and out in 30 minutes. No side effects from either. It seems the youth are reluctant to go. Peer pressure , Rebellion? who knows. Maybe scared of needles !

    Connecting Laptop to Power Amp?

Avoid a mixer. How will you connect it ? It's basically just adding another volume control to the noisy headphone output. Mixers with USB are one way only. Basically sending a L/R mix into the computer, not out. You need an interface or a DAC with a gain control and analogue outs

    Connecting Laptop to Power Amp?

Technically, it will work, but there are serious risks of damage to amp and/or speakers. The power amp will have to be off and volume on 0 on the laptop everytime you connect up. if the 3,5mm jack gets bumped or pulled out by mistake, it will momentarily short and possibly blow the speakers. The...

    Rotel RCD-965BX repair

It's a worn belt. If you have basic DIY knowledge you can fix it yourself. Take the lid off and you will see the belt over the motor and drawer pulley. Remove and take it to your local hardware and get an O ring that's slightly smaller than the belt and similar diameter. Job done ! :D

Get your own back at telemarketers

I used to be short with them, but with Truecaller now, you can either cut the call or not answer. If I happen to be caught off guard, or answer my landline, I'm polite, but keep it short and tell them I'm not interested at this time. Lets face it, it's a :cr@p: job, these people also have...

Members who have had the jab.

I had my first on Monday. Quite a queue at Broadacres VA, but it went reasonably quick and the staff were extemely helpful in checking that you were eligible as soon as you arrived.  No side affects at all. 42 days until the booster shot. 3 people that I know very well have died this week. This ...

Repairing surrounds for AR bookshelf speakers ??

I repaired a pair of drivers identical to yours a few years back. I bought a really cheap pair of 6 inch car speakers from Zakspeed. If you go this route, make sure they have plastic cones, so that you can literally peel the surrounds off. I used a good contact glue and only put it on one...

    Bluetooth FM transmitter for car

I'm not quite sure what you need. Does the car radio have an AUX input ?. If so, then you can connect the headphone output of the phone/ device you want to use directly to it. If it doesn't, then an FM BT device will be limited to the quality of the radios FM section. Limited frequency response...

    Streamer for DAC

Why Google discontinued the Chromecast audio dongle, I'll never know. Brilliant little device with analogue or optical out. I can " cast " Tidal and YT music from my phone or any PC, tablet within my Wifi network. It cost me less than 1K a few years ago, if I remember correctly. I should have...

    NIKKO ALPHA 2 Help Please

She's been playing tunes for almost a week now on the workbench through my thoroughly abused AR 6BX's with no ill effects at all. P/supp covers have been resprayed, all bolts tightened up and everything meticulously cleaned. All caps except the big ones have been replaced. They were all reading ...

    Bookshelf speaker recommendations?

As mentioned, you would need a phono stage and a preamp. Most of the gain controls on powered speakers are at the back, so it's not very practical to adjust individual volume settings on each monitor. I would personally go for used Yamaha HS5's, but your budget would be tight. Samson Media 1...

Tascam Mini CD Tray belt wanted

Not necessarily.  I've found very thin O rings. The smaller independent hardwares often have a variety of things not usually found at Builders and the like.

Tascam Mini CD Tray belt wanted

I've used O rings from a hardware store for plenty of small belt replacements. Cheap as chips and most probably the same thing in a branded packet from a supplier at 10 times the price.

Moving What?s App from Android to IOS

Just make sure Whatsapp is backed up to the cloud before you transfer anything to your new phone. You will have to download the Whatsapp app from the store onto your new phone and then once you open it and do the verification process, it should restore everything. You have to give it permissions...

    It?s cables again

20cm of cable is really not going to make any difference. i'm sure it's decent stuff. I would prefer soldered instead of spade terminals on the drivers though. It all goes to thin tracks on the crossover PCB anyway.

    NIKKO ALPHA 2 Help Please

And....back to square one. After running the amp for a few hours on low volume, all the capacitors on the left channel have swollen. This has been the issue right from the start. The right channel has always been 100% The amp plays no problem. the P/supps both feed the board with identical...
