    NIKKO ALPHA 2 Help Please

After replacing the regulator caps, I decided to replace every cap in the amp except the 4 big ones. The ratings are the same as the originals, except that some of the voltages are higher 10V is now 35V. 80V now 100V etc. I believe it doesn't matter as long as the voltage is higher ? Anyway...

    Good cabinet spray painters

Prep, time and patience. If you go down to bare wood, then i would use a sanding sealer before primer and painting. 3 coats over 3 days. A light sand with 600 grit water paper between coats. Instead of trying to mask labels, rather paint over with liquid latex, sometimes called masking fluid...

    Cape Town U.A.P.

The film industry often uses large drones that carry professional camera's like the ARRI Mini and also LED lighting. It could have been that .

    NIKKO ALPHA 2 Help Please

I purchased this a few months ago to use as my starter amp for my AE2's I set it up in my workshop fed by a LINN CLASSIK and running a pairof AR6BX's. All was fine except there was a hum from both transformers, but it wan't too excessive. Everything was fine for about a week and suddenly the...

Philips cassette deck repair in JHB?

The reason you are not getting any replies is that most cassette decks are not financially viable to repair. There's lots of moving parts that can be worn out. Motors, friction clutches, idlers, gears etc. You can see if a belt is broken or rotted, but you will only know of the other issues once...

    Black speaker putty?

Agree. I needed this stuff urgently a year ago because it's the only stuff that keeps 2 parts of a car headlight sealed properly. I eventually found it at Wurth at quite a hefty price, but I see Geewiz has, and it's very reasonable. They are reputable BTW.

    Acoustic Energy AE2 build.

Thanks for the info. I see they're missing their tweeter covers and that tweeter in the first pic looks a bit suspect. I always look at the background when viewing pics to see how legit they are. can't fathom out what gear is below and the missing TV on the wall. Like a Ferrari for sale parked...

    Acoustic Energy AE2 build.

I always spray very thin coats to avoid running. about 30cm away. After 3 coats of  Plascon sanding sealer which was brushed on and sanded in between coats ( one coat a day ), I then applied 2 coats of Plascon universal primer about 15 minutes apart. I then left them for 24 hours and applied 2...

    Acoustic Energy AE2 build.

I'm definitely hanging on to the leftovers. One tweeter, one port, crossover spares, badges etc. I think I should fix up the original cabinets anyway ( the AE1's have a few dings and scratches ) and store them.

    Acoustic Energy AE2 build.

Thanks. The jigsaw was only used for the original woofer holes. Beginners mistake, but at least they weren't critical in the final product.

    Acoustic Energy AE2 build.

Thanks G. Yes, the colour is a bit lighter than I would have liked, but that effect in a rattle can seems to only come in the colour I used , brown and ivory. The original enclosures are actually smooth satin black( AE1's and AE2 ). I prefer the textured look, possibly a bit darker. Maybe I...

Headphone setup - Node? Valve? Cheap?

I would go wireless, or you're going to have a long cable to your viewing position. Sennheiser RS120 are pretty good on the budget side and work on FM, so no latency and huge range. You can also have as many headsets as you like on one transmitter. There's better models up the range priced...

    Streaming advice please

I'm new to TIDAL, but SQ is just way above YTM whether streaming or using BT in my car. Certainly not thin on either setup. I have it on my phone and PC with no issues.

Last pic of the completed project. I'll go into detail soon on how I went about building the crossovers and my unconventional testing methods :D
