True, I was testing the CDP with a NAD amplifier and it was really really bright. Then with a Cambridge Audio 640 V2 amplifier it was bright but less than the NAD. My VA Predator tones it down a lot and its really clear but not bright. Some systems just mix well, others don't.

I find my Cambridge Audio - 640 v2 cdp a bit on the bright side. Very very clear on high freq but sometimes bright. I do agree that room treatment is your solution here. If I close my curtains which are exactly where my first reflection points are then it's smooth. If you can tame that CD player...

Hell yes forgot to add that one! The guitar riffs and vocals on that album is just superb and think the guy was only 17 or around there. How did I forget to add that one  :facepalm: I think I'll listen to it now! 

Ok so you want to add this circuit to your bulb tester. I would look for an LED tester circuit then.

Hi Signet I found that coaxial digital was best on my CA Azure 540R from a Rega DAC. The difference was almost nothing but in the audio world a lot of "almost nothings" adds up. I ran it in stereo mode only. Nothing wrong with the internal DAC's on the 540R.

Also a possibly yes. There's something upsetting the amp. Try going back to no bi-amping as LAV suggested and see what it does.
