I've got these classic Nad items playing well. But display became dimmer with time and eventually was off completely. Is this a common problem and can it be sorted once and for all? Help/ suggestions welcome.

I really admire what you did to those speakers. They honestly came to life they just awesome. I wish I had such finer skill as I'm stuck with a pair of Kef Q5 floorstanders that also need a shake up.
