    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

Nice, the more the merrier :rubhands:.  Don't know if it is good or bad news, but there seems to always be a "better" product :giggle:

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

My idea with this is a fairly straightforward, locally available, predictable and affordable build with easy to come by components, that (soundwise) is a good return on investment.  With the help peterc offerded it could be off the ground quickly :2thumbs:.  and with the added cartridge loading...

    Choice of volume pot

That will then "turn a linear pot into a logarithmic one"

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

So then just a Power Supply PCB similar to MusicMan_ZA  and phono amp with cartridge loading  (previous example peterc, will need 2 for stereo) :2thumbs:

I use a SUT, but there is a schematic for a prepre for LOMC?  Would that rather be a separate PCB or added to the "mono" board with a jumper option to bypass completely?

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

I think this power supply would be ideal .  If quiet and easy to build I'll discard the idea of using batteries. One power supply will then power both boards for stereo

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

Very nice.  Is the LD1085 /circuit adjustable to 24V (not really important as 18V is fine)?  This is the tipe of power supply I had in mind

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

:notworthy: :notworthy: Put together something on a perf board today... but I have a lot of noise and not enough gain.... really too lazy to do some fault finding  :wallbreak:  Anyway I'd like to have a PCB as the original Boozhound I have (build probably 5 years ago) are still working well with...

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

quote author=peterc link=topic=88824.msg1011173#msg1011173 date=1598112515] It will accommodate both the Pacifica and Boozehound projects. That's very interesting. Any suggestions regarding a basic PSU, maybe using Lm7818 or Lm 7824 .  Can it be integrated into the PCB (with an...

I use a Magnum 2006 Dual Soldering station.  Any special precautions when soldering J-FETs

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

That is excellent news, thank you.  I got some transistors (no name for first run) and will build a "plankie" over the weekend to start with

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

Maybe rephrase.  In the example 33k, 82k, 110k, 150k Ohm resistors are used, any other suggestions. Also regarding values for C4 in Boozhound:  In a different phono mod the OP states: "....Standard were 100nf non polarised lytics and the mod recommends 4.7uf films. I could not get 4.7 so got...

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

There are various PCB'S available online: [url=https://postimg.cc/TpphWZDX] Thx.  Out of my depth when it comes to transistors, but seems they should be closely matched  Great stuff Perfboard should work well.  I also just want to use basic components.  The PIO caps...

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

Boozhound schematic is slightly different, will probably rather be using that: Although changing  R4 will effect gain, I'm not going to try to alter it.  With a MM cart the gain is "almost" sufficient for me, but with LOMC and (Ortofon) SUT I'm quite happy with the gain.  Important to...

    Phono stage "Le Pacific"

I decided to scale down on equipment somewhat, reconnected my Boozhound phono stage and was pleasantly surprised.  The Boozhound relies on the Le Pacific JFET MM schematic, but PIO (paper in oil) caps are used.  Gain is about 40dB.  Due to the simplicity of the schematic I'm thinking of building...
