REW analysis in mid size dedicated AV room

Lovely room!! "Must the subs face each other(current) or play at the listener ?" - Does not really matter as bass frequencies are almost omnidirectional because of the long wavelengths. What you could try also is one front in the front of the room and the other one where it is currently. The...

REW analysis in mid size dedicated AV room

The dips you see in the bass is because of the closed room and room dimensions. Not a lot you can do about it but move your subs around for better distribution. One of the problems is that every side is basically a mirror image of the other side,  which is good for soundstage, but not so for...

    Universal Remotes

I tried it once, but as the "Mute" button did nothing I returned it.

    Universal Remotes

I love my 900, and have replaced older Philips Pronto and Marantz remotes with it. Have been using it for a few years now. However - lately the battery is only lasting about 1-2 hours, depending on use. Sad times indeed as I am not able to find a replacement locally.

    I can hear!

Same here - If I am lucky I may get around a hour without the constant ringing per day.

    TI Burr-Brown vs ESS SABRE

Burr-Brown vs Sabre vs ? My opinion (FWIW) is that the actual DAC chip makes the least difference. How the unit sounds depends largely on other things, like the buffering on its input stage, the quality of the power supply, mounting environment inside the cabinet (shielded from noise etc.)...

Your favourite Speakers you sold and want back... Post your memory

Years ago I bought an AVSA kit 2 fom Roy Wittelson (Sonor Audio), and build them into my own cabinets. (I think it was the kit 2 ? was a 3 way design with Vivid drivers and a 10? bass driver). As I ?designed? a semi open baffle speaker cabinet they were quite huge but all was good as I had the...

Rotel RB-1080 - Are the dual speaker posts for bi-amping

It's bi-wiring - one amp - 2 sets of cables. The amp just makes it easier in that the cables don't have to be joined on one side. Bi-amping would be when a seperately amp is used for each of the HF and LF section.

    Emotiva

I got one after the initial discounted price($1999) fell away, but even so, I am very happy with my purchase. Very versatile if you are not after the latest surround formats (Dolby Atmos etc.) Dirac Live is impressive in what it can do. I use it 90% for stereo and find the stereo capabilities...

Bowers and Wilkins sold to an American startup

Unexpected indeed. I assume this is only for the speaker division - not sure if it affects Class? as this (I believe) am owned by B&W group as well?

    one subwoofer vs two subwoofers

In my istening room I have tried to introduce more than one sub (and played around with up to 4) but have not managed to get the same base slam (think kickdrum) and integration to mains (think low register organ music) as with one sub. Take note though that I am only worried about my listening...

    Any Vapors Here..

Just bought our first setup for making our own e-liquid. (PG/VG/Nicotene mix/Flavouring) Funnily enough, as I only prefer the tobacco flavours will probably find one I like and stick to that, but the wife is going to have a ball trying all the different fruity flavourings out there :)

    AV Pet Peeves

People who come to listen to music and then insist on chatting over the music the whole time. I guess I am not a sociable music listener.

    Subwoofer connection Q

I would say A or C as that basically gives you double the available energy flow of a single cable - however - not sure if this would make a difference at all, and cost would also be higher.

    Criteria for choosing a loudpseaker

I think "Sound Quality" and "Price" will be top on most peoples list. It would be interesting if they are removed, i.e. see what else is (also) important.
