That may be true, but my point is that the SA pricing is (considering the exchange rate) representative of the UK pricing, ie that B&W do not make entry level speakers at this stage and unfortunately that is reflected in the price.

From what I can see around R15k for a ?500 speaker in the case of the BX6. Did not bother to Google the rest as I am not in the market and was not the one stating that the pricing for B&W SA is worse than the competition.

Please show me the competition with better pricing,  talking R/?. Although the 683's are currently at the bottom of the B&W range they are not entry level at around ?1150 per pair. It was just a choice B&W made with the new 600 series and I am sure they will introduce pure entry level speakers...

Ivan, With the power amps you are using I honestly don't think inefficiency are to blame.  They should deliver more than enough power to drive the B&W's at high volumes. As to recommending a replacement the speakers I have heard that impressed me the most was the Klipsch range, and they do...

If it works correctly, once on, and levels are correct, then it sounds like your sub auto power on is failing, specifically as it also powers down again 8-10 minutes later as per original post. If this is the case nothing much you can do, if you need to use auto power on, but to have it checked...

I am sure there's input switches available as well, but in the end it may just be a little bit easier to get a small power amp. What are you running of zone 2?

The speaker selectors should work, but you will also need to find a way to do the input mapping to switch between zone 2 and the extra channels to go from 7.1 to 8.1.

I use 5 of them (Study, Music Room, Kitchen (Router), Son's rooms) and on average get a connection speed of about 110MBS between them - more than adequate for my purposes and the kids are happy as well.

Back to the original question. I doubt very much you will find a 55" LCD display for cheaper than an equivalent TV.
