    Now Playing...

Small differences but worth it I think. What I find to be better: Dynamic range; bass; 3D soundstage. Not major differences though, but all adds up to make the album more enjoyable. Very much recommended.

How much does your Hi-Fi / audio system weigh?

Since we doing it ? leaving out the Exploras, speaker stands and lightweight items (<5kg) I get to a total of 378kg, made up as per below. I think 20 years ago it would have been heavier for the same performance, and 20 years from now it will be lighter (by a big margin) for the same...

    Recommendations for speaker restoration

Wow! The only place I have seen simular speakers was in the older organs. Would love to hear how they sound in a Hi-Fi application :)

    Lucky basteeeerd

Quickly checked in my manual - Orange and red flashing indicates fan failure. They should be able to sort it out pronto! PS: I am worried as my lamp has now got almost 4000 Hours on it - replacement time is getting close :(

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

This is actually quite scary sometimes! In my room the biggest room mode is at 21.86Hz, but there?s some other modes below that (more so if I leave the rear door open), specifically one at 13.8Hz, which I think is causing all the problems. With a sub playing below 20Hz the lowest frequencies...

Budget blown on Subwoofer ? but worth it?

After trying a lot of options (1-4 subs in different configurations) I am back to a single DB1 (with the 802?s) and crossover at 80Hz with a slope of 24dB/Octave. Below curve is probably as good as I am going to get it without extensive room treatment. I am quite happy, considering that...

    Portable Player - Options??

Can also look at an iPhone with something like the ADL A1, which connects digitally and apparently works quite well as an add on DAC and headphone amp.

    Apple Music

Don't worry -saw that as well. But when you go to the subscribe page it is $9.99 - I guess they have not updated this page.

    Laptop as Music Server

You should be fine with most laptops. I use MediaMonkey via the WASAPI driver on my HTPC, and it works great! Ripped all my CD's to FLAC ands now the only way I play my music :)

    Marantz AV8801

Have not heard personally, but Stereophile class A recommended. Same recommendation as your DB1 :) Also look on Amazon for owner's opinions - seems to be very positive.

Wilson audio WITT - Anyone heard them ?

Francois - I actually agree with everything you say, but you did ask for the opinion of others?  :pleasant: I have not heard them -but from what I have read over the years I fully agree that at R35-40k, and assuming you got a use for them now, it's an awesome purchase.

    Speaker & setup recomendations

Sorry - only now fully understand your requirement, but sound like you found a way forward. Not sure about the trigger output - think it is continues. Good luck!

    4.0 or 4.1

In the long run you would have bought a centre channel again, so this is probably for the best. Good luck in your search for a new power amp!

    Speaker & setup recomendations

If it was me I would sell the integrated and get a power amp, as suggested somewhere earlier. The AV receiver should do well as an pre-amp to the power amp to the speakers. Speaker wise I am a fan of yellow cones, but loved what I heard when I listened to some Klipsch speakers as well. I think...
