    Sennheiser CapTune App

Also haven't tried it, but it looks interesting, I see it should also work on devices with Airplay (receivers etc)

    Bi-poles as mains

Hi, Deon C clearly does get what i am trying to do. My idea was to mount them vertically, but tilt them 45 degrees forwards so that one side baffle is facing directly at the listening position, the other would then be firing directly up or down (havent decided which would be better) I like the...

    NAD D1050 and...

Is that Little Dot MkV really such a good amp? I have looked at it a couple of times and contemplated!

    Bi-poles as mains

I think everyone's initial reaction would be NO, but I think a lot of that is what we're told, dipoles and bipoles are surround speakers, it will be interesting to give it a try, just need to find some time...

    American plugs...

Hi, I have a Tice Power Conditioner that I bought on the forum ages ago, but it uses american plugs, which I thought would be easy to get hold of, but clearly not, at least not at a price that I consider reasonable. Wanted to give it a try, see if it made any difference. Any one have any to sell...

    Bi-poles as mains

Hi Deon C Thanks for the advice. My plan was to make up a pair of moveable 'stands' that would allow me to tilt each speaker up and down about 90 degrees as well as rotate them about 90 degrees from vertical to horizontal. Then i'll connect them up and move them around the room and listen while...

    Bi-poles as mains

Hi Deon C Thanks for the great explanation, I have read about it before and sort of understand it, at least as far as the physics of it goes. Here's a question for you. Assuming a di-pole and a bi-pole speaker with drivers firing at 180 degrees to each other were positioned a bit away from a...

    Bi-poles as mains

I'm certainly not trying to say that using bi-poles as mains is a great revolutionary idea (of mine)... I obviously realise that speaker design has evolved over many years, and the configurations and designs available are like that as they have been found to be the best for the application...

    Bi-poles as mains

What about electrostats, they are basically bi-poles (di-poles?), they produce as much sound out the front as out the back and they are great at imaging, i've read that the direct sound is mainly what you are hearing, but a slightly time delayed and diffused 'other' sound adds ambience and depth...

    Bi-poles as mains

I guess that's gotta be it... give them a try. I do think i'll have to use a sub, but they pretty big things (for surrounds) 8" mid/bass I think so they do have reasonable bottom ends... My main question really was how do you think I should position them? Flat on the wall would mean both sides...

    Bi-poles as mains

I have a nice pair of bi-pole speakers, 4 drivers, a tweeter and bass/midrange on each side. Baffles at 90 degrees to each other with the drivers inverted on one side (ie: tweeter on top on one side and bottom on the other). How do you think they'd be as main speakers? Even if I have to build...

    HOUDT Can Stands R350

I like the look of the Houdt stands, but I think cable storage would be nice, and seems storing them with pressure on the cups (as on a 'head' shaped stand) may not be the best idea. What would make the ideal stand do you guys think?

Is the NAD 1050 (bit dyslexic last time) good enough for headphones such as Audeze and HD800's and others around that level?

    12v trigger question

I have 2 Parasound power amps, they have auto, manual and 12v trigger switch on options. I have tried the Auto option, but at night when listening at very low volume levels they seem to keep switching off. So I'm thinking the 12v option is the way to go, trouble is the plug is a 2.5mm mono...
