Agitation Sax cannot possibly be a Trump supporter. He thinks and acts too much like a Democrat. Mentions some supposed non related facts and appeals to the authorities. But it is all FAKE news about Capetonians.

Leave us Capetonians. Ban Agitation Sax. BTW that is how we get our post count up.

I notice most highlights are pieces of equipment. But for me it also includes advice. Many thanks to all on the forum with particular mention of Rodney Gold and Pierre Watts.

    8K TV around the corner?

This is where it really becomes scary. How long until we can roll up our TV screens? If longer than 12 years then it is beyond my life expectancy. So I will have to be buried in a shipping container so I may take my audio etc with like an Egyptian Mummy

    8K TV around the corner?

If one extrapolates into the future other factors pop up, such as costs to transport the product. As the TV's become ever larger (88" plus), they need to be transported in large boxes, maybe even crates. That adds to cost. A cost technological advances cannot reduce. However; with projectors...

    8K TV around the corner?

@KenMasters The laser technology has the promise of catching up with LED TV performances. It has been around since 2016 and the Optoma UHZ65 for $4500 or an Epson for $3000 has been marketed since end 2017. With 3000 lumen and life-time "lamp?" life it places these projectors on an even footing...

    8K TV around the corner?

@King_Julian_S, yes I agree, the media is likely to lag behind as it has to date. It could even be that the technology of higher resolutions etc speed up while the media slows or lag more, due to having to mix more channels etc.

    8K TV around the corner?

Thanks Chris. Projectors have managed to closely follow TV's ito resolution etc. Maybe the question should rather be "at what point will LED or laser projectors plus screen costs reduce by such an extent that we will stop buying TV's" ?

    8K TV around the corner?

To project or not to project t'is the question. If TV's keep on getting larger, at what point will we stop projecting? Also >>> At what TV size will households tend to stop buying larger TV's? Sales people at Costco Salt Lake City said that their main market where TV's are renewed were young...

Denon AVR-X4400H or Denon AVR-X6400H with power amp for AURO3D ?

Many thanks for the links Drifter. Great info. Read as much as I could and it appears that the Denon AVR-X4400H and X6400H both only have 11.2 pre-outs. I therefore assume the 13.2 minus 11.2 = 2 channels of pre-outs that they do not have, are the 2 rear ear-level channels. I now wonder...

    Highlights of 2017

    0) Watching movies almost nightly and enjoying it. 1) Finding a 3rd REL B1 sub in good condition, and in Cape Town !! BUT >> One more would be great. 2) Discovering how well large driver (15") open baffle speakers work when doing duty as surrounds. 3) Still looking for another Vivid C1.

Denon AVR-X4400H or Denon AVR-X6400H with power amp for AURO3D ?

Thanks Drifter. Good to hear positive feedback on the X4300H model, fore-runner to the X4400H. The Rand is stronger, so price could be about R26k then. But R50k for a 6400 would not be worth it given the minor differences IMO. The fact that the different formats cannot operate together in the...

Denon AVR-X4400H or Denon AVR-X6400H with power amp for AURO3D ?

Thanks Miles. That is very positive re the X4400H. The specs rate the 4400 at 125W into 8 ohms, and the 6400 as 140W.
