Dali Lektor 8 vs Bower 684

The key is try in your home with your other equipment as everyone has been saying. Re the Bowers 6 series range, I currently use the 683 S2 as my front pair in a HT system, and for stereo and a pair of 684 S2 as the side surrounds when in HT and I have auditioned the 685 S2 as well.  I have...

    Roon Ready Devices

Hi I have purchased an 8th gen i7 Intel Nuc to act as my dedicated roon core and intend to load ROCK on it.  Life gets in the way though so it still unfortunately sits in its packaging waiting to be unleashed (already a month ).  Currently my core is a Media PC running Windows 10, so its a Roon...

Neil Young's lonely quest to save the music.

Great article, thank you so much for the link. Was fortunate enough to see Neil Young in July just passed (Hyde Park).  And he was true to form, he ended an almost greatest hits set with a mainly unknown song "pieces of crap" about how civilization destroys nature to make disposable trinkets...

My friends, I was wrong, expensive cables matter a lot

Umm it actually does, I had some esoteric XLR cables on loan, which I eventually removed and sent back to the distributor who kindly loaned them to me. Then last night I sat down to listen on my system with my usual XLR cables back in place (which for full disclosure are I must admit also on...

Re: Interesting read about SO, Peter Gabriel

The same site also has the same interesting background to the recordings of Aja by Steely Dan and What's going on, the Marvin Gaye classic.

    Where to buy music

HDtracks  a USA site and 7Digital UK/ Europe site Note often when purchasing or trying to purchase you may get the dreaded "not available in your region" message so I use a VPN being Windscribe to set my location to match the site I am using.  The free version of Windscribe allows you a...

Understood, if you go back to PC at some stage in the future, drop me a line and I will share the tweaks.  But yes its not as plug and play as  its made out to be.

Pc vs Blu-ray Player As Source

What are you trying to do though?  Maybe I should understand that first. What I did was replace my BluRay player HDMI source into my AVR for playing movies in surround sound,  with a PC source.  So I try pass the audio  to the AVR untouched just like a BluRay player does and use the video...

Pc vs Blu-ray Player As Source

Hi I have been using a HTPC for close to 3 years now.  All my Blu Rays are ripped to that PC, I tend to use a direct copy though to keep menus intact <MakeMKV and PavTube ByteCopy are the tools I use>.  I play the Blu Rays from the PC via HDMI using Kodi with PowerDVD as a Kodi external player. ...

    Bohemian Rhapsody

Only watched it last week.  have watched that live aid scene I think 3 times now.  Fantastic movie and performances.  Like all Hollywood Biopics the facts are not allowed to get in the way of a good story though :) Freddie only told his band members he has Aids I think a year after live Aid and...

    Thoughts on mid size SUV

Regarding Mazda, my wife drives a MX-5 (yes not a SUV) she has for 11 years now, not the same car but both MX-5.  Service and customer care out this world, almost from a bygone era it is that good, well our experience has been that.  if I was in the SUV market my first stop would be Mazda.

Anyone used a Network Audio Player

Humbly agreeing with what is quoted and suggested above by Rotten Johhny, I went the same route as you initially, except I have a dedicated Media Windows 10 PC with the drives storing the media internal, no DAS, no NAS, but I eventually went the Roon route, the same PC is my Roon core and at...

I have used an OPPO BDP 93 as a transport and also as a stand alone CD player and its acquitted itself exceptionally well.

    B&W Pv1

Hi, I use the high level, which just to clarify for myself means you use that RJ123 cable, ie its like a telephone cable on the end that plugs into the PV1 and then 4 thin wires on the other end that have to be connected to your + and - speaker posts on your amplifier? Initially I had a hum...
