Wear & Tear Item on a car covered

My 2c: put a diode of sufficient current rating in series with the bulb that blows. Don't do all. Just the one that blows. If it blows real soon again, put a second diode in series. I wouldn't do more than 2 in series. You can do it in a semi-temporary way without cutting wiring by using spade...

1000w Car Amplifiers vs 1000W Home Amplifiers

I had the same thinking as you many years ago already. So I just did a search to look for an example. One search result yielded Stinger Audio MT-2000.1 car amp. When running as a monoblock at 40Hz it is bench verified to produce (rms) 2000W@1ohm, 1600W@2ohm, 900W@4ohm. It costs $200 retail on...

    DIY isolation transformer

So by yhe way if you get a 1A mains isolation transformer, then it's going to be a 220VA transformer. A 100VA isolation transformer is going to give you around 0.5A on ypur vintage amp primary. That is quite a lot and could deliver tons more amps on the vintage amp's secindary. That will...

    DIY isolation transformer

On a (let's say) NAD3020 I would expect to see a mains transformer going to two big capacitors. Those caps are in series and where they connect in the middle, is definitely one "ground" point to place a scope ground lead. Hope that helps a bit.

    DIY isolation transformer

I just remembered something about vintage amps. They used to provide courtesy AC outlets on the back panel for tuner, tapedeck, etc. So, your hand could accidentally touch AC Live while working inside that amp. Your microwave transformers will save you in that case, provided you only touch one...

    DIY isolation transformer

If you're testing vintage amps they already run off a mains transformer so you're already electeically isolated from AC mains live via the magnetic coupling of the amp's own mains transformer. Your microwave-transformer idea would be good to isolate you from AC mains live wire in the scenario of...

FWIW here's a lovely video on changing that anode

    Heatpumps

It would be lovely if an led or squealy buzzer could be activated once the sacrificial has depleted. Kind of like how the more expensive cars alert the owner when brake pads are nearly worn out.

    DIY isolation transformer

And maybe you should consider soldering the high voltage connection to avoid unnecessary sparking. Plus proper high volrage insulation thereafter which you can probably also get from the microwaves.

    DIY isolation transformer

I love your idea. In my opinion it will work, up to lets say 80% of the microwave's power rating. And I would add that for best and safest results use two identical transformers from two identical microwaves.

    Heatpumps

An electrical heating element is 100% efficient in converting electrical energy into heat energy. A decent heat pump is capable of 200% efficiency when relating its electrical energy consumption to its heat energy output. Since there will be thermal losses in the re-circulation path of the...

Suggestions for a stereo Bluetooth adapter for PC

I second that - only to add that the one I got a few years ago was from Gadget Time. Computer Mania is all over the country so if they still stock it you should be good to go.

    Help please....Denon RC1000 remote needed

Maybe try this on the front panel On the amp, use the input selector knob to select (for example) CD Press the "EXT. IN." button on the amp to select the external input. On the amp press the "INPUT MODE" button to cycle through the options AUTO->PCM->DTS (my guess for CD is that you want to...
