    Sony STR-DN1040

my last ES receiver was a 5400ES and I still regret selling it. It was the best receiver i owned to date. They are pricey but worth every cent in my opinion and they look as good as they sound.

    cable sleeves

hi yes they sell them by the meter and they have all types of tubing including different sizes and diameters. I paid R122.00 for 5 meters of braided tubing and 1 meter of heat shrink tubing. Excellent quality as well.

    cable sleeves

nope, no affiliation to them or their suppliers etc. Just thought it would be a decent thing to do considering people are always requesting info with regards to certain types of product. I had a tough time trying to find braided sleeving in Durban and happened to stumble upon a site that...

    Sony STR-DN1040

nope the ES range is now offered via specialist installers hence you will not find them on shop floors. If you want it then its on special order via simplex or other Sony specialist shops. The DN range has NOT replaced the ES range. The ES range is still Sony's flagship offering.

    Sony STR-DN1040

also do not confuse the ES range with the entry level offerings from Sony. The ES range is much more of a power house using better electronics and tons of more features. Also the ES range is more musically inclined as well. The ES range is brilliant and after owning quite a few in the past i...

    10k budget for av receiver

Have to agree the Integra makes a very bold statement with movies, not so much with music tho. Its sound, steering effects and dynamics when it comes to movies cannot be faulted at its price. You should be more than happy with the Integra Ray

help needed in choosing cd player

Hi dronkie Based in Durban. I ordered the Cambridge 651A and 651C together. Should have it by Thursday. Will post a review once its up and running. Will compare it against my previous Cambridge 550A and Nad C521BEE player. My speakers will remain the same so it should be a good comparison...

help needed in choosing cd player

Thanks for the reply Hi-Phibian, very much appreciated i heard the 651C paired with an Anthem amp and paradigm towers and it was amazing. Sound stage, clarity and attack were all there but credit needs to go to the speakers and amp as well. Sound was never harsh and i know paradigm can be on...

help needed in choosing cd player

Hi I need some help in choosing a dedicated cd player. My dilemma is this, I have ordered a Cambridge Audio 651A stereo amp but am torn between the Cambridge Audio 351C and 651C cd players. The price difference between the 2 is approximately R2500. Now the question is does the difference in...

    SONY BD380 VS BD790

i have a 790 and never really cared about setting it up, was just plug and play basically. Coming from a 370 the picture seems a little more fluid and color reproduction seems a litttle more life like using the 790. Also the 790 has alot of picture adjustments which i never got around to...

    Did I overspend on sound?

I absolutely agree with the posters above. I too bought a Sony HTiB for my bedroom because I was on a tight budget and after a few months sold it and went the "separates" route. The difference is night and day and not that I did not know the sonic difference between the both but because of a...

    jazz music.....

norman brown - after the storm is a damn fine cd. Some noticable renditions of Janet Jackson, Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston feature on the CD. But the title song "after the storm" tops of the CD. Its just bliss so much so i used it as the signature tune for my wedding. It should be a good...

    ONKYO 809 AV RECEIVER

you will not get a foot wrong with the Onkyo when it comes to big precise surround sound for movies. I had the 807, sold that a few days ago and ordered the 809. The only reason i sold the 807 was because i have now gone the 3D route. The only quirk i had with the 807 was its non ability to...
