    Wiim Amp

Great thing about Wiim is that they stand by their product, are responsive to user requests, their support is excellent (I have had reason to use this, solved within 24 hours) and they are aware of the problem mentioned above, which is receiving urgent attention. I have absolutely no regrets...

    Denon RCD-M39

I bought a Denon RCD-M33 from Dean off the forum some 15 years ago. Older model than yours but great sound quality for what it is. Also came with the Denon bookshelf speakers. I don't know if the CD player still works, pretty sure it would need a new belt by now but I never use that anyway. I...

    How much do cables matter?

Excellent write-up, thank you. This really explains a lot about cable properties and any influence they may have on a cable. -F_D

    Quad 303 restoration

Please try your amp alone with nothing plugged into it via the input leads, unplug all the inter-connecting cables to the amp and see if the hum still persists. -F_D

    Quad 303 restoration

Check if any other equipment that is connected to it also has a 220v AC Ground connected to it. If so, disconnect the Ground connection of the offending item, see if that does not solve your problem. -F_D

Wharfdale speakers - please help identify

Find out what surrounds are used, Wharfedale used (for example) model numbers such as: Super 8 RSDD - Roll Surround, Double Diaphragm (This would probably show as Super 8 FSDD, but I do not recall a model number like that) I cannot recall if they ever used Foam Surrounds - if they did, the...

Wharfdale speakers - please help identify

Apparently from the Wharfedale Super Series, dating back to the 60s. As far as I remember, these were Super 8 or Super 12, being 8" or 12" diameter respectively. I can't remember if there were any other sizes Wharfedale range and I think they were all "Full Range" speakers as well. I could be...

Internet 🛜 streaming radio box ?

I have various devices for exactly that reason, including Logitech/Slimline Touch, Transporters, Squeezeboxes, all of which are now "obsolete" but still working. But I also have three Wiim products that are excellent and cost-effective for this purpose, the Wiim Mini, the Wiim Pro and the Wiim...

My Vintage Collection: Time for some Housekeeping - or not?

... And that concludes the 'Copy & Paste' from the old forum. I have lots more to update here, will probably do so in December, some items since purchased in typical Vintage Lover fashion have not even yet been opened after having received them. -F_D

    Subwoofer is dead

This is a very unprofessional report. Their spelling is not that professional either. Normal wear & tear with a high-quality electronic product does not "just happen", there must be a reason somewhere. -F_D

    Vintage RCA tube amp restoration

This appears to be a PA system. The Phono input might not be suitable for a MM/MC cartridge, more than likely about 300-500mV sensitivity for a ceramic or crystal cartridge. So you might require a suitable MM/MC pre-amp for that. But then again maybe not - it does state high or low impedance...

    Battery Booster from Takealot

OK apologies, I never opened the link. I would rather go for a Lithium setup, just a better product all round depite a higher initial purchase price. You won't be sorry. We used to sell a 1300mA/Hr Lithium battery car booster, this thing started diesel 4-litre Land Cruisers with no problems. It...
