    Thunderpuck

I have one problem with this Thunderpuck.  To make it really work well, it seems from the publicity blurb , that it needs to be situated on a table or some sort of platform, to bring out the full bass sound. I don't think it will sound good in the woods.  My suggestion is to go listen to it in...

    Joke for the day

^^^ I know that my very best friend has a workshop full of these tools, as well as a battery powered screwdriver with which he easily manages to strip or horribly over-tighten delicate screws. for the sake of our friendship, his identity will remain a secret.

synergy / compatibility / functionality / purpose - hifi gear

I understand that music is alternating current, so if the cable is pointing in the right direction when the pulse is positive then the negative pulse will be travelling against the chevrons. So ,do we want to hear the positive pulse best , or the negative pulse. If we are talking about direct...

So what are the ugliest Amplifiers you have ever seen?

@ Mr Agaton Sax, as you know , that is the backside of the Sugden P51. Most backsides are ugly.  Please show the front of that P51.

    Audiophile on a budget

Morne  I think that you misread the OP's budget. The amount is R10K  NOT R100K. Your system pictured is what most music lovers would happily buy .  if it was only R10K I wish I had  Those.  Drool.

    Zingali ZERO Bookshelf

Hello Francois, I am at present listening to the Zingalis on the Sugden. This is what I hear. The treble is very detailed YET not shrill. On Alison Moyet's "Almost Blue " , if I listen quite loudly, there is a touch of sibilance on the Tannoys, but on the Zingalis just clean treble. I can only...

When to draw the line at Hi Fi Prices

Francois, You also need a real bean to cup coffee machine, and then get the girls in the short skirts to serve coffee and change the cables.

    Yamaha BDP-S681 wont eject

A tray that won't open is usually caused by the little rubber drive belt from the motor to the tray gears that is either stretched or perished. Easy to fix if you can source the correct size belt. My two cents.

    Are CDs dead?

Amen to that Wim There are times when listening to a reliable music source is better than trying to get all the internet based equipment to function as it is supposed to. An LP on a turntable always plays. No update interruptions, no buffering, no glitches while your favourite track is being...

What was your first Hifi and where did you buy it ?

My first real hifi rig was a Pioneer SX510 T. It was their fist transistor amp which superceded the valve model SX 510. CS 53 Pioneer speakers. Pioneer PL12 turntable, delivered in a custom built hifi wooden stand ,with place to pack your LP's under the amp and turntable. I donated the amp to...
