    Am I wasting amplification?

Generally speaking, the HF binding posts would feed the mid and tweeter, while the LF posts, the bass driver/s. No, you are not wasting amplification. But you ARE introducing a myriad of potential issues. The list is long, and I’m not going to get into it. The most obvious one is to make sure...

    Desktop System

Those little P3ESR are phenomenal used in the correct context, which I think you have close to spot on there. Not easily gonna get better than that.

New experiences with state of the art speakers

I think this simply comes down to our differing appreciation of music. Music touches us each differently. For me, it’s a melody and timing. Add a third dimension to that duo, and I can be entertained for hours.

Subwoofer impact on Amplifier Dynamic Range

Like any electrical equipment, speakers draw current based on the “apparent “ voltage they are fed instantaneously by the amplifier. It is not unreasonable to say that they draw “power” especially considering the complex frequency distribution of musical sounds coupled with the reactivity of the...

Subwoofer impact on Amplifier Dynamic Range

Say we both had exactly the same system. You like bass heavy music, and I like flute and violin music. How much more headroom do the subwoofers lend our amplifiers? You see, it is dependant on what music you play. In your case, the subwoofers add a lot of headroom. In my case, almost nothing...

Subwoofer impact on Amplifier Dynamic Range

Yes, the speakers are still capable of drawing 200w. But they won’t survive it. The situation is improved for the amplifier which now doesn’t need to power sub bass frequencies, and it can send that power to the high pass frequencies. But as I said, be careful. Your mids and tweeters are still...

New experiences with state of the art speakers

Jesus @KenMasters If that is what passes for music these days, then I’m wondering what’s the point? Not to offend you at all, but I cannot enjoy that immaculate soundscape of noise. Edit: I will add to my previous posts that finding tracks that I like in these genres, is as with all genres, not...

Excellent examples of the effects, but I haven’t found anything with a melody I can love.

New experiences with state of the art speakers

I have a 20 month old ginger male cat. He curls up next to me in front of my system. His head and ears dart around looking for the sounds coming from my system on some electronic tracks. Oddly, his direction seems a little off. He’s not hearing from the same direction I am.

New experiences with state of the art speakers

Another of my favourites is: https://tidal.com/track/5317931?u Audiomatic Difficult phase The track title says it all. This track is super immersive. The 3D sound stands out. If your system can render it, you’re in for a treat.

New experiences with state of the art speakers

I’ve always hated electronic music. It wasn’t cool in my crowd when I was growing up. We were the rebels. We liked old school. Real musicians. I got some nice speakers years ago. They do things I’ve tried to explain here, but you cannot get it. I was transfixed for awhile with the usual...

Highly unethical buisness by lint audio ?

Stupid design from the outset in any case. If the user doesn’t lower the cover dome absolutely vertically, they risk damage to the cart.

    Stereo-Direct.co.za website

I’m sorry to (have to) say, but this thread glares of ulterior motive. @Air or Stefan is WELL KNOWN on this forum, and has been the proprietor of Stereo Direct for a number of years now. While the business model of Stereo Direct might not satisfy everyone, NOBODY can legitimately call Stefan...

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

MarkC was/is selling a Bryston analog active crossover- just check the classifieds. I use one also, and it is phenomenal. While it cannot give you over unity gain on the subwoofer output, it has up to 6db attenuation for the high pass. It’s also a fantastic bargain for the quality of component...

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

If you are saying that the subwoofer plays loud enough over a dedicated LFE input, then its simply a matter of input sensitivity of the subwoofer amplifier on the RCA inputs. You need to add gain to the input by means of a preamp. How much, I don’t know. If you need more than about 6db, then I’d...
