Interlinks don’t do anything! Or do they? 32 rca cables analyzed

Because I won’t fly down to CT just to visit you and tell you what I already know I’ll tell you? I’ll PM you next time I’m headed down and we can organise a date.

Interlinks don’t do anything! Or do they? 32 rca cables analyzed

I don’t care about wining or losing, I care about what is or isn’t. You already brought someone around to your house on my behalf - the mic. Do you really need me to come by your house to pat you on the back and tell you your system sounds nice?

You posted your RT, response and clarity measurements - it's all there plain as day to see.

Yes, my ears, but I also pay attention to the data. We are not perfectly rational creatures, we're prone to wishful thinking. How would that refute anything? I'm sure your system sounds very good, there are also systems that sound better and many that are worse.

I don't need to send anyone, you've already posted plenty of data on your system. Fidelity is not a line to be crossed, it's all about degrees. Besides, what does it matter what anyone thinks about your system, so long as you are happy with it. There are worse and better systems than mine, but...

Interlinks don’t do anything! Or do they? 32 rca cables analyzed

Well implemented streamers and DACs, no, valves, possibly, as the technology is prone to audible distortion. I think subtle in this case is the word used because we can't articulate the difference - because it is in our mind's eye. People's rooms are a distorting mess, the sound changes moving...

Interlinks don’t do anything! Or do they? 32 rca cables analyzed

I don't get how that makes me a chicken. I'm quite happy to say what's on my mind. In discussing panels with Anthony Grimani I did disclose that I wasn't a fan of the Sonitus range he distributes. When it comes to cables, nobody disputes they don't measure differently, it's the scales we're...

I suppose if I had the opportunity, but doubt we'd ever find ourselves in the same circles.

    Compatiblity

Glad you got sorted. No flaming, happens to the best of us. The more complicated these things get, the easier it is to miss the details.

    Compatiblity

The NAD should have Excursion would depend on how loudly you listen to music - the M10 should have no trouble at all driving those speakers.

REW Measurements of AlleyCat's Room- Take 2

@Air - the answer to all your questions is no (technically "not" to the first one). It's down to how bass "rests" within your room. There are strategies like using multiple subs to cancel out room modes, but you can't change the fundamental behaviour of your room. Instead of fighting the room...

REW Measurements of AlleyCat's Room- Take 2

Though bear in mind at these frequencies it doesn't matter what you do with the speakers, if you're not in the right location you're fighting a losing battle. Indeed, the cable ouroboros.

    PM and non-response culture

You don't think actions like criticising the quality of responses might be part of the reason why some people would rather just communicate through PM?

    PM and non-response culture

I think some people are sometimes embarrassed to ask certain questions "publicly" or think that other people wouldn't care for their questions. I agree though, they should just bite the bullet and create a thread on the topic or ask the question in an appropriate existing thread. The...

REW Measurements of AlleyCat's Room- Take 2

Inspired by the above, I took some quick room measurements to illustrate the importance of locating the right listening position in the room: = = = You can see how the left is the inverse of the right, and the middle, my listening position, is where you find a good balance. I think...

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

Specs put the unit's lower bounds at 40Hz (probably also its -6dB point) - which is why the lowest the crossover will go is 60Hz. It's not going aid extension, but it will reinforce the speakers within a limited range.

Thank goodness, it seems that sanity prevailed after all

Gramophone said the helicopter committed suicide - a tongue in cheek way of saying it crashed.

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

I don't know, I think if you're into your audio, a USB mic is not a big ask. A new sub would be a much larger step to my mind. It may not be the sexiest audio purchase, but for this hobby it's right up the with the tape measure in terms of utility.

Subwoofer gain/volume/level on a preamp through second pre-out

I don't think you're going to have much success with that sub. It was designed to compliment tiny satellite speakers, an external woofer rather than a true sub. The "sub" specs are basically in line with the low end performance of your Monitor Audios, but probably not nearly as linear. These...
