New Years Cape Town Accommodation Suggestions

We're from Cape Town and our families live there, so it's no so much about seeing the Cape, but rather spoiling her family a bit with a nice two day stay and a good New Years. The problem is we don't really know what good options are out there, we're just looking for ideas.

It's five adults and two kids, whatever options people think are good, regardless of price.

New Years Cape Town Accommodation Suggestions

My wife and I are spending New Years with her family for the first time (it's always my folks that host, but they are away this year). We'd like to rent a nice place to stay for two days or so (us, her Mom, brother and his wife and kids). We're thinking Camps Bay, Franschhoek or Hermanus -...

    President Lincoln.

Nice in theory, but even if the politics are of little concern, we all still have to suffer the fallout from Trump's disregard for environmental concerns.

    President Lincoln.

Actually along voting lines there was a differentiator, level of education. It's been a slow burn since the policies put in place during the Reagan administration, but the country is where it is now, good luck to them and the rest of us. I remain optimistic that this fever dream will pass.

My fear is that he's not fooling people.

Speaker wire and connection (Why was it done like this)

There's no reason for it. Either they didn't know what they were doing or they wanted to pad out the bill by selling your more cable. My Dad had a local "pro" installer do his HT in Paarl. I came to visit and took a look at his wiring because he was having issues. Can't remember all they got...

    Go SpaceX.

I'm not a fan of many of his personal stances and some of his business policies, quite possibly things you admire him for. Debating him won't improve either of our days. It's like arguing about Trump.

    Go SpaceX.

His opinion of free speech is his own speech. If you're the type that goes on about "wokeness" and what not though, I can understand his appeal.

    Go SpaceX.

Not particularly proud to call Elon our own, but great achievement for SpaceX.

    Full sound at low volume

EQ with consideration to Fletcher-Munson is the key to bringing the fuller sound you expect at higher volumes to lower ones.

HiSense UST PL1 - what is the best setup advice

The ARC connection goes both ways. To receive the audio input from the UST rather than send it, select the “TV” input on the AVR (assuming that’s how it’s labeled on the Pioneer). Also make sure ARC is engaged on both AVR and UST.

98" TV CYBER MONDAY HELP PLEASE

With bright ambient lighting conditions you're less likely to notice LCDs shortcomings, even less so if you sit a good distance away. If you watch TV in a bright room and with the lights on at night you're probably not the biggest picture quality stickler, which makes a good case for going the...

98" TV CYBER MONDAY HELP PLEASE

Ah I see, sorry. I was responding from an airport and didn’t read through the thread properly. It’s still true that to some people there’s not much difference. My youngest brother still thinks I’m a fool for buying Blu-rays when DVD is “so much cheaper and looks the same at normal viewing...

In your view perhaps, but to my eye they are worlds apart - which is why I say it depends on the individual.

98" TV CYBER MONDAY HELP PLEASE

These sorts of conversations don’t have concrete answers, it’s down to the individual. I sit a little over 2m from my screen so for me a large TV is perfect (83” currently). I’m a stickler for image quality and view in low light conditions, so for me an LCD is not an option. Given the choice...

    Is all well with Netflix?

You don’t need to subscribe to Apple’s own streaming service, you can use an Apple TV to watch Netflix, or any other streaming service, alone.

    Estate agent commission?

We put up our place in Durbanville earlier this year and it sold on the first viewing. Can’t remember what the commission was though.
