    Post Office question

Unless you have the original tracking number under which it was sent, there is little you can do. I have imported items from the UK, Portugal and China which come in through local customs and the post office. No issues other than excessive time delays at times but, all items have arrived safely.

How do I post pictures with a paragraph?

When you want to post a message or reply, there are icons across the top of the box in which you are typing. Click on the icon that looks like a small, framed picture just left of the smiley icon. A text box will open which says "drop image or click here". Click on the "click here" option and...

    Big acoustic problem

Whilst I understand your consideration for retaining the integrity of the original design, the building actually belongs to whomever commissioned and paid for the design and construction. As long as they are pleased with the final product, the architect's feelings on the matter are irrelevant...

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

I understand what are saying as I have studied a multitude of topics and have seen and heard examples of ways in which the eyes and ears can be fooled into hearing or seeing what is not actually there. That however, is a very different scenario to what we face in everyday life. If we are to live...

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

You continue to display a one-track mindedness and lack of understanding on the topic. The HiFi club members are not likeminded other than for the fact that we all enjoy HiFi and music. There are many different views on every aspect of the hobby and generally speaking, there is no specific...

    Big acoustic problem

Why, oh why would one want to get the "expertise/opinion" of the person who has already displayed a monumental lack of understanding by creating this monstrosity to begin with. A completely new and fresh approach is required.

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

Bullsh*t More bullsh*t. Every component and every cable in the chain exerts an influence and alters the tonal signature. Sometimes this is very subtle and at times the difference is quite dramatic. If you want to experience the manner in which two source items can dramatically alter the sound...

What comes first - the source or the speaker?

I agree 100%. If you have a speaker which you have heard to produce the tonal signature which you love, then you know the capability and potential is there to begin with and the journey from there is to acquire complimentary components which bring out that potential. I have learned not to jump...

Valve Audio Predator - Speaker Pairing

Based on the statement in the quote, this sounds like "upgrade-titus" of the worst kind. You really need to nail down what you expect from a system that you are not currently getting. @WAP, a good place to start in order to bring some sort of clarity to this thread, would be to state the maximum...

Valve Audio Predator - Speaker Pairing

Clearly you are one of those people who read a post whilst busy formulating your rebuttal and consequently do not understand what you are reading. At no point did I defend, promote or reject any brand. I did not declare the post in its entirety as nonsense. Read my post directly preceding /...

Valve Audio Predator - Speaker Pairing

Now... the quote above makes sense, is a reasonable statement and to answer your question no, there is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking to improve your listening pleasure. Had you stated that at the start, I would not have needed to say anything. I simply took umbrage with the non-sensical...

Valve Audio Predator - Speaker Pairing

This thread was started with a post including the quoted statement above. I have not heard such nonsense before. If everything works well together and sounds good to you, then you should simply enjoy what you have. Based on the quote, you are implying that the speakers are inadequate to take...

    Identify this Rega

The deck would have had the name printed in white lettering on top right-hand corner near the headshell. I assume the deck was refurbished at some point and the name lost in the process. There should also have been a label under the deck with the serial number, if that is also missing, then it...

    Identify this Rega

Looks a lot like a Rega Planar 3 with a Rega RB300 tonearm.

    Instant coffee

Forgot about van Riebeek, we had that too. You are correct in that many of the instant coffees were a blend of coffee and chicory. Unfortunately, they have been cutting down on the coffee and upping the chicory content to the degree that Ricoffy is currently around a 50/50 blend. As we learned...

    Imaging and unrealistic expectations

As you correctly state, imaging and soundstage are technological advancements in the recording process. However, they are not an intrinsic feature or function of MUSIC. Music is about a musician or group of musicians making music. Imaging etc are an optional experience related to the...

    Imaging and unrealistic expectations

When you say "we", to whom are you referring? If you are referring to musicians, then the answer is that they are not and should not be concerned with imaging and sound staging. A musician is interested in creating or reproducing good music and pursuing good musicianship. If by "we" you are...

    Imaging and unrealistic expectations

^^^ Interesting article "The Beatles in Mono" and it is quite understandable that John Lennon and George Harrison had difficulty adjusting to and accepting stereo, as it was a new and foreign concept to them at that time. It does not mean or suggest that one format was better than the other...

FS - Media (CD/DVD/LP/Games) Equipment cleaning

I am not aware of anyone who offers such a service as everyone generally takes care of such things themselves. Remove the casing off all the amplifiers and if you have a compressor, use it to blow out all dust. If like me, you do not have a compressor, go to your nearest garage and use the air...

    Imaging and unrealistic expectations

@Tzs503gp, I feel like I am speaking a foreign language. I have recordings with great imaging and soundstage that I fully appreciate but, the point I was making is that imaging and soundstage are not necessary or essential for the enjoyment of music.
