Wow we have found my long lost brother. I must say I really enjoy my speakers and the wall of music. A pic of my baby's.

    Ever had the notion...

A change is like a holiday, the more you change the more you get to experience. If you want to play it safe, first buy and then sell off, giving you time to evaluate the change. Go for it.

    50 posts : that took a while

I enjoy buying and selling on the forum, it is my way of learning, having a platform that allows me to plug and play, helps me compare and experiment with gear. It is so convenient and easy dealing with the members. The trust factor is also awesome. Very addictive site with loads of interesting...

I am in the mood for another epic speaker build

I recall reading that Aluminium has great absorption properties, light and you can laminate it in between ply and it is not all that difficult to work with. My Meridian M33 cabs are all Aluminium. My  :2c:

Sealed 15" Targa Viper build (was Dual 12" sub build)

Looking awesome Juggy, almost review time. Just another tip from my side, if you want a effective solution to cover up all the screw heads with little fuss. Make sure the skrew heads are recessed about 1-2mm, buy a pack of the plain white screw caps, a drop of glue to hold them in place and tap...

Sealed 15" Targa Viper build (was Dual 12" sub build)

Nice hole, forgot to mention about the dust and high pitch noise.

    Router question

From my experience with cutting holes with a router, first test on a scrap to make sure it fits flush. First cut the outer recess and then move on to the inner hole (drop out), if you do it in small increments you do not need to brace from underneath, it will break out very slightly but just...

Sealed 15" Targa Viper build (was Dual 12" sub build)

This if fun watching other people work and chirping from the side line. If you decide to go the spray finish option I have found using plaster primer for the end grain works a bomb, mix well, brush on two coats with sanding between coats. Stops the finishing coats sucking into the wood and gives...

Sealed 15" Targa Viper build (was Dual 12" sub build)

Looking forward to see the progress, all the best. One tip from my side, wipe away any excess glue with a damp cloth, mission to sand down if you leave any glue where it is not ment to be. I must admit I have not read the thread, what finish are you going for?

    Random questions.

So I tried the etch process a couple of times but it was a fail. Will keep trying different etch options. Input is always welcome.

    JBL Everest...

My new challenge is to only take on one project at a time, must say I get great satisfaction out of every project and tend to take on more than I should. When I start my speaker build I will start a thread and try capture every aspect, cant wait, a new project on the horizon. Love building stuff.

    JBL Everest...

I have a similar build in mind, I have to finish all my current projects first before I can take on a new one. I must just quickly finish painting the house (80% done), complete my 25sqm deck (25% in), finish installing a new sliding gate (50% there), wire mesh and plaster up some holes I...

    Random questions.

Thanks for all the valuable input. When I measured the resistance of one tweeter I removed it from the crossover so there were no other components in line, so you are saying that in that case I should have a constant reading that will be fixed and not jumping to different values? I presume the...

    Random questions.

Thanks for the input, I think I should elaborate a little more. A mate of mine purchased a Marantz av processor and he was concerned that the 4 ohm rear speakers are going to damage his new amp as this is the second new amp after returning the first one as it picked up some problems two weeks...

    Random questions.

Looking for some answers on a few random questions. Soldering - how do you get solder to stick to Aluminium? Speaker ohms - how do you convert a 4 ohm speaker to 8 ohms? Ohms - how do you get a accurate reading, I tested a speaker on a multimeter but the figures jump all over the place...
