Great, so on the suggestion from a good web friend I changed the screws from silver to black this morning, yes the PR99 has all silver, but black screws just work better so thank you Allen for your suggestion.. Covers are off again as I am in the process of making the various counter switches...

Right, so the black painting is done, I'm not completely happy because somehow the front of the panel has some wide banding, probably because I was a little over exuberant with the scotchbrite pads... Anyway no biggie, let the unit dry good and proper and then once fitted I'll see if she...

Den did you see B & C's at RS, I only saw the 0-9 count version?? Actually it's the C's I want, common cathode..

Den you have no Idea...!!! I spent hours this very dark very early morning searching.. I genuinely wish I could find the C version of that chip right now, plenty of the 0-9 count available but not the 59 59, and I honestly don't feel like going the load & reset at 5 count again, I mean its not...

And with the newly cut red screen in place..  

Right, got the new bits all bolted down, still need to machine the opening for the reset and return to zero switches, but that will come later, thankfully its all in the plastic bits so no risk of damage to the faceplate.. Without the red screen..  

4 dome head capscrews will then clamp this entire affair together.. Here the things made... That's all for now folks, more to come as and when..

Here the rear plate held in place flush on the backside of the panel.. The front plastic plate is then inserted into the slot. Obviously while the physical counter display window is centered left to right, it is not centered top to bottom, the additional real estate on the plastic panel will...

Just in case you had any doubt in my sizing explanation, here the front counter panel compared to the editing block, and yes, its a tight fit into the counter window..

Now on the PPR99 that window looks kind of the same size of the tape editing block on the right... Somewhere my brain disengaged, because if you look at the window on the left relative to the editing block on the right, the window looks much much bigger, which genuinely pi$$ed me off as I had...
