Difference in sound between 2 AVRs

If you prefer listening with Audyssey on (which I think most people do) then the xt32 in the 6013/14 is probably worth the upgrade. I prefer without it.

Difference in sound between 2 AVRs

Oh second question - driving them quite hard lets say -15db to reference. The difference is audible for me even at low volumes though.

Difference in sound between 2 AVRs

Im using a separate power amp - a MM7055. Crossover and level settings identical in all of them. And its for stereo music.

Difference in sound between 2 AVRs

The SR5013 sounds better to my ears but.... the SR6013 will probably sound better for most people (especially for home theater use) - it has more detail etc. The weird thing is I listen to them in direct mode without audyssey etc. where there really shouldn't be a lot changes to the sound. But...

Difference in sound between 2 AVRs

I use my AVRs pretty much as sound processors now with power amps. One amp is a sr6013 the other a sr5013. There is quite a big difference for me in the same setup using preouts from the 2 different amplifiers. To test I put them on top of each other and just swapped the power amp rca between...

    Standby vs Completely off

Well I measured the power consumption of my monoblocks when turned on (not standby) and it is less than 1w. So its not going to save power to turn them off. I think im just going to leave them on permanently. The AVR turned on without doing anything consumes 60w. So it makes sense to put it in...

Agree completely. I dont mind sacrificing quality and that is why I dont have a 4k TV and I own low to mid range home theater components....

    Room size/acoustics vs watts

What I want to get across is that you cannot really tell someone speaker X with X power amplifier (or AVR) is going to sound good when they buy/combine it. Something I see posted often. Speaker X sounds good with X power amplifier only for a certain room size or treatment. It might wildly...

Completely agree, but for me the convenience trumps the loss in quality....

    Standby vs Completely off

There seems to be consensus on turning valve amplifiers off - but on most of the solid state stuff the opinions seem to differ?

    Netflix 4K

I cant remember when last I watched something on a disk - streaming is the only thing we have done for a long time.

    Standby vs Completely off

I have read a few articles and watched a few videos on this since yesterday, and it seems split about 50/50 on whether standby or completely off is actually better. Maybe it doesnt really matter....

    Netflix 4K

I'm not sure what is standard at most people's homes but we have 100mbs fiber and all of the different streaming services are fine - probably not home cinema quality. But good enough for me...

The streaming of DSTV with the DSTV now app also works great and allows for several devices. Lets just leave it at that :)

How long has this section been here? For some reason I only discovered it now - very entertaining reading in the posts.

    Room size/acoustics vs watts

Haha or "get a smaller house" is not as easy as get more sensitive speakers or a better power amp.

    Room size/acoustics vs watts

For sure and your age seems to affect it too.
