    Room size/acoustics vs watts

I see many posts about people worrying if their amp has enough power for their speakers. Most of the answers then discuss speaker sensitivity. What i have found in our house is that the size of room and room treatment is a huge factor in what you need power wise in order to drive speakers to...

    Standby vs Completely off

    Hahaha. Thats glass half empty!

Placement and equalization before room treatment

Exactly the same here. Sub in the centre a bit away from the walls sound very natural with music. I moved it around quite a bit before settling there. Moving it around obviously made a big difference since the levels detected by the room correction was hugely different.

    Standby vs Completely off

Good question. The contacts on switches are probably so close that lightning will fry your equipment anyway?

    Standby vs Completely off

I see we have been here before https://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,52169.0.html

    Standby vs Completely off

That is of course if your power amps has triggers at all :)

    Standby vs Completely off

The completely switched off nature of a triggered power strip should also protect your equipment from spikes in the power supply/lighting etc? At least the components on the power strip.

    Standby vs Completely off

Interesting about the OLED - why is that?

    Standby vs Completely off

I want to hear the opinion of guys if there is anything negative to completely turn off power amps when you switch of the processor in stead of just putting them in standby. Even in standby the components do consume some power - and over the course of a year it actually costs you a lot of...

    Cable article link

It looks like the speaker cable thread disappeared? Can somebody just post a link to the article that was linked in there again (and lets maybe not discuss it too much so it doesnt get out of hand)

    HT speaker cross-over selection

Im not sure why but with every sub and front speaker combination I have tried on a few different AVRs 80hz sounded best. It feels like a sweet spot where the base is full put punchy and the fronts have enough power so that the mids and uppers dont sound flat. There must be some good explanation...

Cables again - some more explanations...

The only way the USB thing would make sense to me is if the previous one was unshielded and had an effect on other cables or components?

Cables again - some more explanations...

I cant think a digital cable like a usb makes a difference. It either handshakes and works or it drops out? It makes more sense on the analog side for me.

Cables again - some more explanations...

Haha yes, but that article is a very good read. Good information on what thickness of cable would make a difference (and in my experience it does). I was so anti expensive cable that I used too thin cables and that is a problem too.

Cables again - some more explanations...

So the conclusion is use thick enough copper wires with good termination? The rest is just for looks (also important...) I replaced super cheap interconnects and thin speaker wires with some thicker properly terminated wires and shielded interconnects. I made them up myself over the past week...

    Banana plugs

https://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,81979.0.html There are the plugs - of course you can get better ones. But these seem more than good enough for what i want.

    Denon multeq xt32 - Music

Very good thread guys. This perfectly explains what i experienced... It got much better when i replaced my monitor audio sub with an b&w asw610. But would a velodyne or something similar improve it even more?

    Active subwoofer ACQUIRED(WAS VERY WRONG)
