OOm . lets say you had an ATC 50 passive , the ATC 50a (active version of the same speaker) is generally better than their passive ... but thats not to say that an active ATC50 will outperform , lets say , a passive vivid audio B1... I can go fully DSP active with my current speakers .. a quad...

Ive had tons of actives and DSP actives and my findings are that an active of the same passive speaker is almost always an improvement. Whether active or dsp active speakers are better than passives is another story.......
