Is it possible for different hard surfaces to affect bass drastically?

If you walk around the room when playing bass , do you hear your bass "come back" in any areas. Just remember bass is only reflected by thick massive stuff..it goes thru and escapes with anything else..like windows..doors etc. The tiled floor and the new one are thick and massive (assuming a...

Is it possible for different hard surfaces to affect bass drastically?

Check both subs /speakers are in phase..tiles wont make your bass go awol if you had tiles before and system/listening position is the same..maybe you changed something if you had moved the system in and out when painting

    The reason behind?

I was in ireland a year or so back..had a surreal moment in the hotel we were staying at .. an unamplified irish music band at full tilt in the lounge , jamming after a gig ..(2.30am)...wished my system sounded like that. The next day I was at a wedding with a piano and double bass player..also...

    The reason behind?

My only goal is to make the music more emotive to me ... a shut your eyes and pretend you were there moment and when the song ends .. you go WOW now THAT was good .. the better gear I have bought brings more of those goosebump moments more often. Im in a different mode if listening critically...

    Using room correction...

You can use those handles in the DIRAC target curve screen to limit correction..have you tried using dirac to just do correction up to , lets say,  300hz..?

    The reason behind?

    Using room correction...

The -6db hit is in the digital domain..any active pre will compensate Asymmetrical speaker placement  in a room is what one wants to avoid if possible , you are guaranteed to have imbalances that way. what dsp did you use to correct the 6 cd system ?

    Using room correction...

if using the dirac based correction , you need to reduce digital gain by at least 6db or more so as to allow headroom and avoid digital clipping.. I looked at the amarra user manual .. I see the IRC filters have a gain slider , did you reduce gain using them?

    Subwoofer high frequency

Bass punch is in the 60-120hz region and the stick strike is much much further up These days its real  easy to integrate a sub using DSP

    Subwoofer high frequency

Depends on the sub..check its specs. You will find that the higher you go , the more the sub sound is locatable , so if you want the sub to play 100hz plus , it would be better to use stereo subs. The SVS sb13 subs I had were good to about 350hz..but thats unusual
