Shipping : Buyer vs. Seller Risk

Who says you cant insure 2nd hand goods in transit? I always take insurance when sending stuff or if I send couriers to collect.

HiFi - Before spending cash on (expensive) crap...Try this

The effects of DRC will be amplified with a treated room.. however there are limits as to what drc can do.. eg, you cant make an echo chamber into an anechoic one with DSP All the manufacturers of DRC systems and DSP will tell you that as well..treatment then correction.

    MiniDSP (Dirac Live vs REW)

I really dont know much on ht/multichannel stuff re both dirac or mindsp so cant really comment on that. Dirac live is a better option than a minidsp solution..you CANNOT change a minidsp dirac licence to a stand alone , it is tied in with the hardware and can only be used with that hardware...

HiFi - Before spending cash on (expensive) crap...Try this

Finally , when someone gets how hugely important the room is , it is suggested they buy different speakers rather than treat it

HiFi - Before spending cash on (expensive) crap...Try this

The bare minimum is to control 1st reflection issues and the liveliness of the room. Some would say do bass trapping first , but to control this in any meaningful way requires huge physical treatment which still wont do much for up to 10db peaks you can experience at listening position...thats...

HiFi - Before spending cash on (expensive) crap...Try this

Nope.... Dirac will not replace room treatment..needs to be used in conjunction with treatment for best effect

    MiniDSP (Dirac Live vs REW)

I would run dirac software on the source computer , prior to that use a 4x10hd + plugin for the active setup.. do all the minidsp stuff like crossovers , level , delays etc and afterwards run it all thru dirac to "clean" it all up . Just be aware that dirac will require a -6db attenuation so as...

What plans are other Capetonians making for Day 0 ?

    MiniDSP (Dirac Live vs REW)

2x4hd and the DDRC series support DIRAC live 4x10hd doesnt DIRAC does phase and amplitude correction , REW will only allow amplitude correction if you use it to export filters to a mindsp device DIRAC is real easy to use , 9 measurements and you are done , you can tune the system afterwards with...

What plans are other Capetonians making for Day 0 ?

Just get containers ..why buy bottled water ... tap water is still drinkable and store-able This has been mismanaged but I doubt that the ANC will score big on this tho ...their FUCT attitude is flipping us the bird big time..more insulting than the DA's bumbling Cyril is their worst nightmare...

    Room response measurement

If you can post here .. you not tech challenged..tech challenged is when you have problems working the pop up toaster. The problem with getting someone to measure is that you need em back, measure/move/treat is an iterative procedure ..apart from which you will be relying on THEIR advice as to...

    Room response measurement

You are not really measuring the room , but you are measuring the sound you hear at listening position and how the room modifies it AT THAT POSITION ...move the mic 20cm away and you will get a totally different measurement At any rate , order a umik1 from minidsp (about $110 including fedex)...

    Wall cladding

I used the rockwood cladding on my ceiling , great stuff but it works out pricey at over R500 per m2 For that price you can have real riven marble installed ... would make for a very nice feature wall one of the 3 rockwood panels on my ceiling Real riven marble front entrance of my house

    Trinnov... best upgrade yet...astounding

I noticed that the trinnov was not accurate when measuring my speaker distances .. reporting close to 6m from me..spoke to trinnov and they said it was some added latency via the devialets, but not to bother as it wont affect the correction Anyway I decided to set up my dual mono 650W Abeltec...
