    Power cable DIY opinions

Thanks. That could work but it would be a pain to run new cables from my DB, old house, small ceiling crawl space and so on. Not sure about the properties vs surfex - mostly was going to use it because I have extra laying about and i know its pure copper. But ye its probably better to use the...

    Power cable DIY opinions

Hey all. Been looking to get a decent set of power cables Specifically ones with EMI shielding and better gauge that the stock ones. Nothing super elite. So looking at them I noted they are not cheap and as readily available in SA terminations. So I though why not make some. My idea as...

    Another speaker cable dilemma

Thank you all so much for contributing and sharing your knowledge and experience and analysis with me. I know just by reading these I?ve learned a lot in terms of the process and what I want to achieve. Obviously along with the cables come the terminals. I found these rhodium plated spades...

    Another speaker cable dilemma

Thanks for all the inputs and perspective guys. Really good to hear different views and options. Someone once told me the cables can only reveal what?s inherent in your system, it cannot add anything beyond that. However it can remove characteristics from your system. So therefore your aim...

    Another speaker cable dilemma

Hey guys so I?m busy researching speaker cables to use with my new Monitor audio gold 300?s (4th gen). Currently using QED silver anniversary xt (which from what I can find out is effectively 1,5mm) in bi-wire( bluesound powernode) and bi-amped (denon 4700h) terminated with nakamichi banana...

    Anybody deal with Foamrite acoustics

Thanks. Was also going to add their bass traps as well to deal with the lower frequency range. In terms of building my own. Would absolutely love to, but sadly I have zero free time. And honestly won?t have any in the near future, hence me resorting to purchasing a solution. If you know of...

    Anybody deal with Foamrite acoustics

Hi All I'm at a point in my small HT room (5mX4mX2.7h) room where I feel that some acoustic treatment will improve my sound quality. I definitely have some rear wall reflection issues as well as low frequencies not dissipating fast enough. I have played around with Room EQ wizard and the...

    Audioholics - Edenvale

Thanks all. Actually went to them yesterday and the service and knowledge was really good. Ended up buying a pair of paradigm monitor 7's for what I think was a good price at R6k.

    Audioholics - Edenvale

Hey all, I see there was a post from 2017 regarding Audioholics. However I just want to make certain before I purchase from them as I have never bought from them before. They have some good deals this week. Has anybody purchased from them recently, basically are they trustworthy and have a...

    Plex transcoding

Hi I'm not sure if this will help, but my setup is that plex server is my PC, wired ethernet connection to samsung series 9 TV. Then the sound is optically passed through the TV to my AVR, and it shows up as the original source, DTS/Dolby and it comes through fine. I will check my other Plex...

    Onkyo 807 AVR

Thanks Ken. All makes sense, and I agree that holding on for the next step in tech evolution is better for me right now so that I can somewhat future proof my AVR at least. And yes I guess the 120Hz frame rate would improving gaming (i game lots). However currently I'm also using a 7 series 50...

    Onkyo 807 AVR

Lol @Larry I agree. However in the interim, I could just get a good 4k streamer with atmos decoding and output it to my current AVR. And I highly doubt that there would be significant 8k material available soon anyways. So thanks for all the input. Helps me make a good informed decision.

    Onkyo 807 AVR

Hi All So its finally time I need to upgrade to a 4k AVR. Everything else is now 4k. I currently have the Onkyo 807. So I was wondering, what the equivalent of 2016/2017 would be, and secondly what price/trade in I could possibly get for my 807. Thanks.

    Marantz CD6003

I got this player recently for an incredible bargain from Singapore when i was there. I know its frowned upon here, but i could not resist the oppurtunity. So anyway, all i have to say is wow! I did not know my CD's had that many instruments recorded on them. I unassumingly popped in a Kings Of...

    Yamaha RXV567

Hey man, make sure you are selecting the correct input, for example, the HDMI input you are using, maybe assigned to a function already, like Blu-ray or DVD or VCR, something like that. Also make sure your output under your settings is correctly assigned to the RCA you are using. I'm not...
